I had to remove a mandrel from a piece of tubing and, like an idiot, chose a razor blade to do the job.

What happened man, there was no dynamite handy?  :smt003

While I've only sliced myself to the point of needing a couple stitches, I have seen several severed thumbs on the jobsite.  The absolute worst looking is when it slices through the nail and they suture right through it....frankenstein tye stuff.  Rub some dirt on it and get back to work  :smt002

edit....k just seen the pics, you got one through the nail.....take the afternoon off and make sure you're early tomorrow  :smt003

PS.....what'd teh doctor say when you whipped out the camera to take pics?

I was lucky enough to not get any stitches through my thumbnail. When I did it I was wearing gloves and the first thing I thought was that I cut my thumb in half length-wise and that they were gonna have to stitch it back together through my nail.

My second thought (swear to God) was "Great, I just f***ed off Elk." and I did. Elk was that week-end or the next week-end. I actually started to drive up to Elk that Friday night, but got all the way up by Gerstle and turned around.

Funny thing is that I went out to lunch for the first time with Vy the very next day after I cut my thumb. Seems like so long ago.

I only saw a doctor for like 10 seconds that night. He looked at it, told the tech to clean it and stitch it, then left. The tech was pretty hot and she thought it was cool that I was taking pictures of it. She had been in a pretty bad car accident and showed me the scars from her burns. Some of which went pretty far down her thigh. I got to see some cheek!  :smt003

Ouch, hope it's healing well. It's amazing what your right hand is willing to do to get rid of your left :)
