Places to Launch and Camp / Re: Delta Launch Locations

I found launching off of docks are more difficult that just shoreline launching. You have to be a very good balancer and quick to scoot ass off dock and into seat, without the yak sliding away. Looks nice though!

For a pre-2015 Hobie seat, this works well, although it's crazy expensive for what you get:

https://www.austinkayak.com/Hobie-Mirage-Inflatable-Seat-Pad-i-Comfort-2021/ACK1241P.html

I had one and it lasted several years. If you have the lawn chair style of seat, I have no experience with that, but I'd think it might be difficult to improve on that.
This is the one i've been using after trying ALL types. You can adjust the height by amount of air. I put it UNDER the main seat flap and attach it with zip-tie to the main seat. so it always is with the seat.
Some sit too high, some worked great, then eventually absorbed water, fell apart or just disintegrated. I estimate over $200 worth of "cushions" before this one.

....and/or get a small piece copper or metal tube. if you can file the ends to get it sharp. You can cut a plug out of the swimbait, glue or zip-tie it to the jig. I zip-tie most plastics. The fish do not seem to mind. A torch lighter will melt them back together, if needed, right on the water.

give it a go! keep the connectors / leads coated with dielectric grease or equivalent.

tuck and bungie / strap is the way to go. try and keep the tips and ends within the kayak, so if it nose dives or whatever, the rods have a better chance of survival. Some will disconnect and dry store the reels inside.

Good to read that no blood was shed. HOLY SHIT!
Being tossed from a small plastic vessel, into the ocean, by an apex predator, is a reality that will make you feel alive and a bit crazy at the same time. My safety senses were on "full alert" for a few months after my encounter.

The rule of thumb, according to shark peoples, is the tip of tooth point gap, is roughly: 1 inch = 10ft long, 1.5in = 15ft, 2in = 20ft. Those teeth entry points look widely gaped.
Hope you heal right and Be Safe!
