Return to the Cove.

Todd and Shane and their families stayed at Shelter Cove for several days right after GS12, so we took advantage of a nice forecast this past Thursday and went offshore in search of a Pacific halibut. We hung some tasty looking B2Squid with CC herring on a slow troll - aiming to scare off all the rockfish and little lings, but the big flatties eluded us. The guys went on to catch plenty of lingcod and rockfish to fill their bags and satisfy goals of achieving a new adventure with first time catches of vermillion, greenling and a few others.

Nine hours on the water and then a cold brew at the cleaning table hit the spot for all of us. Great day, guys - thanks for hooking up with me again.   :smt001

I like that dual towing devise. Same concept I used many seasons ago when I towed my yak down with a strap on my bike rack. Not sure if I was the first to do that. I know I got a lot of looks and thumbs up the first times I used it through the campgrounds... :smt002 Gotta love those oily conditions eh? I'm hoping to hit a flat spot up there after the salmon season opens. Just looking for pac hali and salmon only. With a big focus on pac hali...
