Great fun and great food. Met some new friends on the way up and fed them breakfast on the side of the road before going on. They were very appreciative.

Oh no... " the dreaded two spots for reporting of event..."

Here goes the cut and paste with a little extra...

Great Turnout, Weather was Nice...

Fish took the day off, little slow,
but what the Hey, it's fishing and we were able to so in some great conditions...

Thanks SBD for a making it Happen, Albion looks like a Great Venue for us now, Think I'll be going solo next year though as to enjoy the Full effect...

A Healthy Ling and I think I would have been in the Money!!!!

Just a nice Cabbie for me and various small Rockies....

ConGrats to the Winners!!!  Which was everyone there.......

Great to see all that I had time to talk to and see ya soon.......

the extra...
Looks like 2 dudes in a small aluminum power boat ran into a rock during the tourney, that's what the sirens where about. They were rescued by the Coast Guard with their boat being a total loss. They were banged up pretty good too..

guess there is a boat out there with a motor on it somewhere...

Congrats to the winners, thanks to Sean for putting on the contest, and thanks to everyone who participated. Special thanks to Fishing-Jay for sharing meds and Hojo for the killer pics dvd. Here are a few pics and a question for Danglin. Did the boat run aground over by the Gap? I saw the coast guard cutter over there for a while. I also saw some NCKAers shoot the Gap earlier. Crazy. These pics were all taken close to shore. The swell and chop was worse outside, especially towards the end. I had a great time catching and releasing but no contest contenders for me. Next year..... jim

Congrats to Kiel and Craig for first and second place.
Fishing was pretty slow for all.
I am going to have to say that this was the best NCKA event to date.
The facilities were perfect; easy launch, indoor hot showers, indoor plumbing, plenty of room to stretch out. Jumping from camp to camp and visiting and just hanging out was the best.
Got to say hi to some old friends and got to make some new ones.
Camped next to Don D on one side and Darius with the Utah posse Ed and Allen on the other side.
Great meeting you guys and hanging out.
There was so much to do for everyone who showed up it was ridiculous.
Becky, Adrianna, Anita and Theresa paddled up river during the tourney. Jelly and CHUB hung out together going after dungies off the dock Saturday evening. There is just so much to offer for everyone who shows up. I hope this location is the venue from here on out.
I ended up in 3rd place. Couldn't get a legal ling to save my life but I did get some cool parting gifts; a plaque, a Ben Williams original. a new VHF radio, a blunt tip dive knife and won the MBF pot of $170. Thanks for all who entered that and also to those that didn't.  :smt044 Mahi had a bigger rockfish.
It got pretty sloppy OTW towards the end but in the morning the conditions were great.
Thanks Sean for putting together another top notch event.
I am going to take a wild guess and say this was a lot easier for you than setting up Elk.

question for Danglin. Did the boat run aground over by the Gap?

Have no idea, just know the Coast Guard dropped them off by truck right next to me where their car and " Empty " boat trailer were...

they were scared up pretty good, don't know if they swam to shore or were rescued.

Sean: Thanks for setting up the event--sounds like you got a good turnout and much fun was had. Glad to her Jelly was out there too.

Tote: that pic of the gap ahead looks like a nice soup to shoot into in search of game--makes you feel like you sort of earned the fish eh?

When I look at the other kayak communities and forums versus this one I see one big difference: the community here is like nowhere else in the kayak fishing world that I have seen. We have our differences on some issues, but NCKA is still a great community for us all. Thanks to Sean (and his family as I know they helped) and all the others for helping create these great social events--its great to see even for those of us who don't have the flexibility to get up there for them.

First off I would like to thank Sean,  :beer3 for putting this event together. We all appreciate all the work you and the family did to get this going. This was a great location for this event, (good by and good riddance to that hill.)
To everyone who attended and put the master chef skills to work Sat. night. Great location, good friends, and some of the most awesome food available to a camping man.  :chef: Having ChuckE in thew site behind us helped, Thnax Chuck.
Special thank you to Jim AKA Redyak and wife leeann for sharing all the good times, the camp site, beer, food, and helping with Gabby.
To the winners 1st- Reelknots, 2nd- ravensblack solid performance pulling the tri-fecta of all three fish, and 3rd- tote congrats.
Got to put some faces to screen names, great meeting you all and see you OTW.
The weather was good and the ocean was bumpy enough with 8 to 10 foot swells and wind chop to make the fishing tough, and a few unfortunate souls to lay down some chum lines.
I managed a 18" cabby that got donated to Chucks fryer and a couple of other small rock fish that were released to fight another day. no contenders.  :(
Stoked on the Albion Open  :headbang:

Friends an' food!! does it get any better? The food was off the hook  :smt007 the cool thing was it was like two different courses. The first half of the line got some completely different choices from the second half. Haven't eaten that much since Thanksgiving.... Best part of these get togethers happens in the camps. Day and night, constant rotation of folks to yak about yaks with. Nightly entertainment round the campfires provided much needed theropy. The fishing was tough, and the waves were a little rough too. Few folks even tried chumming, but the fish just wern't cooperating... :smt005 My first time on the section of water, so it's always fun exploring. I accomplished my misson. To get some fish for the fish fry. Chucke and I had quite the fish fry production going.  I made the traditional English style, and Chucke had his famous extra crispy variety working.  Had to keep beating the vultures away so there was some for the table... :smt044 It always amazes me the brotherhood of NCKA. Great bunch of folks. Meeting new faces, and hooking up with old friends. Glad to be a part of it. Sean, as always, top shelf!

Fun times indeed though my time was limited.  Arrived Friday afternoon and fished for a bit more than an hour.  Things were looking good with a few of the right kind:

Then I took off to Mendocino to watch a dynamite performance by Joshua Redman.  Came back, re-spooled a reel, slept and fished again.  As with others, Saturday was slow with only a greenling and a black for me in the first 3 hours.  I tried a little of my own special homemade chum but no more luck.  I had to leave early to play a show in Ukiah but it was fun meeting and chatting with the few that I did.  Mr. Magoo, bassmanben, Mahi, etc. good meeting you.  Thanks Sledge for the campsite hookup.

Next time I'm staying for the food!

Ok , I've had some sleep. I went out with Allen for a bit Friday afternoon and when we got to the outside I could tell it would be real interesting on Saturday. The ocean wasn't real huge but real confused with a north swell and a south swell with a chop on top and a slight NW wind. It was hard to fall into a rythym while sitting on the kayak. The pictures you might see on the open ocean never really replicate the true conditions. I have noticed this over the years and am always amazed that it never looks as rough as it actually is.

Jim/Redyak, William/William102 and myself launched at around 5:30 am or shortly thereafter. The tide was going out and we had the
easiest part of the days paddling behind us. We moved to the south point just inside where Jim had had some luck in prior years. Nothing happening there so we moved across the bay opening to the north point. The point really deserved a wide berth because every 8 sets or so there was a big lump that would expose how long the reef really was.Once around the corner we kind of split up each looking for that little rockpile or reef that would hold fish. I knew it was going to be a tough bite from the day before so I was ready to keep fish that I normally wouldn't. I found a good spot and caught a small olive for the first fish of the day. I worked that area for awhile then moved in closer and wasn't getting bit so I just kept moving around.I then moved up to the south of the mooring rock in 70ft of water and caught my first ling.Only 25inches but I was happy that it was on the clip. Jim came over for a photo op. Thanks Jim. Now I was really fishing alone and away from most everyone. Trying here and there working my way north past the first little bay north of Albion Bay.I saw Allen and Jim/Inseine and James/ Abman. They werent having much luck there so I tried a bit then moved a little south between the north side of the mooring rock and a big stack rock on the shore. 65ft deep and some good bottom structure. After a minute or so the light rod loaded up and it was a nice fish I could tell. Wirked it up and netted a 29in ling to add to my collection. After a bit of braggadicio over radio( which today I regret) I called some folks down for the bite there and left moving south. I thought about cutting through the eastt side of the rock and through the bay but there were some big boilers that became exposed sometimes and the swell would buid and sweep over it all so I decided no way man. I hooked up with JIm amd William again and Will told me that he had caught a nice cab in close by the north reef that we paddled aorund at the start. Being real careful and edging in to 35ft. I caught a little cab that was just legal by and inch. I killed it with regret and clipped it on. I was feeling prematurely comfortable now and thinking about that little yellow boat in front of Seans trailer. I found most of the crew out a ways past the outside marker and sidled up and chatted a bit. I saw Kiel's fish and knew my work wasn't done yet. I moved away from the crew to 110ft and caught my last fish of the day. A nice vermillion. Small but acceptable. When bonking that one I drove one of the dorsal spines into my right index finger right into the top joint and I am always amazed how much that shit hurts. That little poke signalled the days end and the wait for the others to come in. It was close. 13 ounces separated 1st and 2nd place with 3rd just ounces behind me. It was real close a pound of flesh either way would have thrown the positions to a different place. Thanks to Kiel for putting me in my place and to Tote for being there to tell me if he had just caught a ling he would be going home with the boat. Thanks to all who I got to talk to as this was my first big NCKA event. I had heard about the food and OMG it was the best. I am grateful for all I have in life and especially my new found friends in the NCKA. It took me 55 years to find you guys and gals. Thanks again.

Thanks to everyone that made the long drive and braved the fiesty conditions. One of these years we'll have a decent ocean during our event, but I have to say with this years event I am thrilled folks were launching at Albion, and not on the beach at Elk.

I think my favorite thing about this years event was watching the amount of between tourney fun being had by kids and adults on the docks, beach, and river.  Lots of good crabs were caught and eaten, a few folks played in the surf, and quite a few folks rode the tide up river for a scenic paddle....nice!

While the fish definite had lock jaw, some nice fish did come in.  I also think folks liked the new format.  On to the porn!

Check out Kiel's solid stringer...

Let's just say that me + ocean = not love

It was a little too bumpy out there for me, even with scopace.  camp was fun, dropping traps for dungies was a lot of fun too. thanks to andy for that!

Oh man.

SOOO much fun...  A few highlights:

I was all packed up and ready to head home at Noon on Sunday, almost everyone was rolling out...  But then I run into Mooch, Parrothead and J, who are going to float up river with the tide.  Having done a preliminary run up there Friday, I knew it was an awesome paddle...  I'm in!

To make a long story short it ended up being my favorite part of the trip.  Ben, Andy and Brenda joined us and we picked up a few others along the way...  followed the river as FAR as possible, making it back at 5pm.  Five hours of paddling with NO food except what blackberries we could steal from the bears, (I heard Mooch ask "Is this edible??" more than once).  It was quite an adventure that deserves it's own report.

Drove straight home, made it in 3hrs, in bed by 9:30.

And just to give those of you who missed out an idea of camp life at Albion, I'll give you an example of a typical trip to the restroom, (Sunday morning):
-Walk towards restroom, get about 30 feet
-ChuckE waves me over,
-Eat breakfast ChuckE style, still hot fried fish chunks...  awesome!
-Chat for 5 minutes, laugh a lot
-Pet the dog
-Finally make it to bathroom
-Notice Mooch is having a garage sale, walk over
-Walk away with a fistfull of lead heads and swimbaits for $2.
-Finally make it back to my spot, where more Al offers more food and I realize I need to pee again.

Thanks for getting us together, Sean!
Thanks Alain, Sarah, Andy, and Brenda for sharing a spot and the hospitality!
Thanks to EVERYONE for the food!

Special Props to Fishmaster1/Andy for the cooking...  Some of the best food was not even at the potluck...  The crab/beer/fish stew was OFF THE HOOK, and so was that wild boar...  and the carnitas, too!

This group of ppl never stops amazing me. Craig, I missed you before you left. But thanks again for getting the site booked and paid for. Good vibes helped secure 2nd place. Enjoy that new PFD!

Mooch, this weekend got the fish count up to 45. Almost 1/2 way. Hopefully MBK/Davenport will push it to 60+

As we made our way through camp Friday evening, meeting, greeting and throwing tortilla chips at everyone, we kept hearing how big the swell was, coming in two directions, strong current, barf stories etc... I've never got sick before, but I put a dramamine in my lure box just in case.

Headed out Sat at 6ish. Big swell indeed. But thankfully, I'm still feeling great.
Moved between 120' and 50', north and south, worked it for 4 hours, ended up with a nice Verm, Cab, bunch of nice China's.

Most awesome part was  when I pulled up a china that was barely lip hooked, it flipped itself off my swim bait and floated about 5 feet away. I headed for it.. Suddenly it get's real dark above me and as I start to look up, I see two huge talons swoops over my head and a hawk (I think red shouldered hawk) with about a 40" wingspan slams the china, banks to the right and up, up and away.

Donna wanted to kayak the rive so I headed in. Then  came the stupid mistake :smt009.

Just before the rivermouth, there is a south side rock out cropping, then a big field of bull kelp. You have to paddle around the the north side of the kelp then head in.There's a gap between the kelp and the outcropping. So I decide to time the wave sets  to see if it's safe to shoot the gap. First, two waves 10 seconds apart, 20 seconds later second set of two, third set, first wave pases, second wave passes, I take off, damn if this set didn't have three waves in it!!! Picks me up and looks like I'm going to be flipped onto the rocks, I bailed out on the left side and flipped the yak with me. Yard Sale!! Flipped the yak back over, hopped back in, everything was tethered except my old Ugly Stick with a 30 year old Penn 309.. Donated that to Davey Jones for my stupidity trying to save maybe ten minutes.. :smt011

Got back to camp, we had lunch then paddled up the river for three hours.

The potluck was way over the top.

Thanks again Sean!!!

Rich

This was one of the most CHILL events ever. A lot of us were making the same observation on Saturday morning that gone are the days (for most of us anyway) of the 0-dark-thirty launch and a foot race to the launch point. I was in super chill mode and didn't even launch on game day until almost 9:00AM. Gave it a half-assed attempt out in some pretty sh**y conditions and just wasn't feeling it. Only fished for like two hours and high-tailed it back to camp skunked. Still had a fantastic time!!

Our little corner of the campground was off the hook. Ben and company were tearing it up on the guitars until almost midnight on Friday. All the food was ridiculous...on Friday and Saturday. Being next to Andy and Al is a sure way to come back from camping at least 5lbs heavier than when you left.

I was already stuffed before the potluck even began. Eric B's ribs were the bomb, there was carnitas, ceviche, fried fish, multiple piles of ribs, all kinds of sides, and some of the best desserts EVER. Dude - deep fried cheesecake?!?! And Al's Dutch Oven peach/pinapple cobbler was just stupid good. Sorry everyone else....but I had three servings of that!!

The river paddle alone made the trip worth it, but the food, fishing, and most of all the friendship made it memorable. Can't wait 'til next year!

Great Event Sean! I had a great time up here everyone was a pleasure to hang around with. I wish I had caught my 20" cab on sat instead of Friday but oh well. All around great time and fishing was SWELL(North& South)  :surf . I aws able to get a nice stringer full of rockfish but that was it on Saturday. Look forward to next year now that I have better intel.

That shot is looking back at the launch. I fished that bay for plenty of rockies. Seems like the bite near the mile buoy and to the north

Millions and millions of tiny dudes...  We thought they might be juvenile rockfish?

There are ruins all along the river, some made of old-growth redwoods, HUGE logs...  ruins from the salmon fishing days, and the shanties DO appear to be used...  some were quaint...  some were rank.

A big congrats to the winners, everyone who attended and to the organizer SBD. Glad you got to have fun this time! Great report everyone. Looks way too fun and I know it only showed a sliver of what it really was. And that spread, the grub, looks insane!! That is THE tournament to be at and it was a hard one to miss. I will be there next year. Now to get my WAF together for HMB!

Albion was a great time despite the fishing conditions.  Fishing might be the focus, but for me, hanging out, chillin, visiting the different camps, and seeing everyone just having fun was what I loved about the weekend.  Like Sean said, there was something fun for everyone to do at Albion.  I didn't even miss Elk (especially the big ass hill).

The launch was a dream.  We got a free ride out in the morning and free ride back in.  Jim/Inseine said it best -- "It was like an escalator for kayaks".

Thanks to Mooch, William, Tote, and Jonesz for donating their fish to the fry.  Jonesz's English style fish was delicious and so was just about everything else I sampled like Fishmaster's seafood gumbo, Erik's strawberry rhubarb pie, and Jim's crazy fried cheesecake.  It was all GREAT!

It was also great meeting lots of new members.  Thanks to HDRich for hooking us up with bags of his tasty tortilla chips.  There's no better way to ingratiate yourself with this NCKA group than introducing yourself with free food to give away.  :smt003

Special thanks to Chris/Kingfisher and his wife Jenna for inviting me to share their camp and making my dog "Aki" feel welcome.  Thanks too to William102 for jumping my dead battery (left my truck door and dome light on too long).

Of course..... A big THANKS to Sean and the generous prize sponsors for another great derby/weekend.  I'm convinced Sean can work with any venue to produce a successful event.

CONGRATS to Kiel, Craig, and Tote!!!

The windy road to Albion was definitely a turnoff. And speaking of turnoff, Jdyak and I missed the turnoff to the camp by one road. Dumb GPS insisted that I drive another FOUR miles down Albion River Road. Anyway, we finally made it to the campsite which, fortunately for me, was the closest to the launch area.

A BIG thanks to Sean for putting together the best NCKA event to date. Thank You! Congratulations to the top three finishers...... but in the end we all won!

Our adventure began on Thursday morning at five-ish when Adam rolled into the driveway. We wound our way north then west to pre-fish a little spot called Elk. Fishing was tough there as well but we all landed some quality fish in confused seas and moderate winds. Patrick and I landed without incident while Adam goofed around in the surf almost nosing it in the sand and ended up with a kayak full of gravel. The hill didn't have the same daunting feel as last year.
With the kayaks reloaded we made our way north to our campsite at Albion. Thursday night Adam cooked up some fresh grilled fish tostadas ala FisHunter...Let the Food Parade Begin! We fished Friday morning trying to find the mother lode but it was not to be. Part of Friday night's dinner was what I would call the "campcrawl" ...starting with Andy's wild boar feed.
Saturday I fished north trying again to find a honey hole but it was not to be. I caught plenty of fish but not a single fish was worthy of a weigh in so they were all released. The pot luck was as confusing as the seas and fishing...where to start? what to try first? and most difficult of all ...when to stop. That was easy...deep fried cheese cake thanks to Mooch for sharing his with me.
Thank everyone for making this weekend such a great adventure, on and off the water.

WHAT A BLAST! Congratulations to everyone who participated in this event :smt023 Sean (SBD) thank you so much for your time and effort in putting this tournament event together. IMO Albion provided the perfect location and facilities to accommodate the best NCKA event to date :beer3

Congrats to the winners: Reelknots, Ravensblack & TOTE!!! Conditions on Saturday were pretty nasty on the water and catching was not the best but these three hung in there and "got lucky" :smt003

Without a doubt the NCKA crew is among the best company anyone could ask for. Visiting campsites, seeing old friends and meeting new faces was the best.

The FOOD!!!!  OMG WHAT A SPREAD. If you ever get the chance to taste deep fried cheese cake DO IT you have know idea what your missing :smt005

Fished Saturday with Hojoman and my two sons. We were all very lucky in that we didn't get sick. I heard lots of chumming was going on and we did see quite a few greenheads paddling toward the shore :smt044 We did pretty good on the rockfish. Nothing to brag about but will definitely make some good taco's :smt002

1) Hojoman catching his first ever fish on the big blue from a kayak
2) Joel (Fishmeister) first fish of the day
3) Jacobs catch of the day

Congrats to Kiel, Craig and Mike for catching fish on a slow day.  Sean, I'm glad you didn't have to put so much effort and that you were able to just have fun.  I think I will have to hit this place up one more time before the season ends..gotta give it a second chance.  I didn't catch anything noteworthy.  Had a great time catching up with friends and hanging with Levi's fam.  Glad everyone like the InSeine cheesecake.  I think that one will have to make an encore at our next event.

What a picture!  Thank Hojoman, I feel the love!  I will have to post some pictures tomorrow.

I had a great time at Albion!  Super campsite, thank you Craig...we could see your Ravensblack flag flying as we crossed the bridge!  Nice launch with the free ride into the ocean.  This was my first ocean tournament.  The seas were a bit rocky and I did the best I could.  Pulled up three blacks, all caught on "The Pink Flamingo", the custom rod made by my loving husband a couple years back.  These were the first fish that rod ever caught, my first fish in the ocean...so it was a good day.

I loved the Albion River.  I paddled with a few of the NCKA ladies on Saturday.  Then did the large group travel down river to the end and the berries on Sunday.  Lots of fun, great conversation and beautiful views!

This was an awesome event, love the hoodie!  Sean, thanks again for putting on these events!  I loved the facilities and hope that NCKA will be welcome back again for many more years.

I look forward to seeing everyone in August at MBK and/or Davenport.

What's up with Andy's boat--shots of it upside down and water in the hull. Hope its OK....the boat, not Andy....hahahahaha!

lets say andy found some water in his hull!  i'll leave the rest to him.
:smt004 Ya know, I'll let Andy say for *sure* what happened...

I mean, I'm not going to point fingers or anything...  :smt003

:smt005 But there were some shifty guys running around...

Thanks to Sean for organizing another great event.  I had a great time meeting up with old friends and meeting some new ones.  Congratulations to the three finishers.

I tried my crab pots for the first time with little to show for it.  Did get some rock crabs and one legal Dungie.  You could load up easily--one time had 25 dungies in less than 20 minutes on the pier--but all undersized.

Had a good time catching some fish on the tourney day, so relaxed and let my hands heal the rest of the trip.

Sorry we missed you!  :smt006

We drove into the parking lot then promptly left. That place was a mad house! There must have been 50 cars in line in the drive through and not a single parking space available to walk inside. I even had some turd honking at me because I didn't pull forward in line, which would have left me blocking two lanes of oncoming traffic on the main road. Crazy...

WE NEED MORE COWBELL!!!!

It was the biggest Kayak Fishing Tourney in NorCal History!! and am sooooo proud to have been there to see it all go down without a hitch.......getting over 80 yakers to show up was the easy part, i'm sure.

Paddles Held High to the top three finishers....they worked very hard for EVERY FISH hooked!!
We're ALL winners after the top three got there plaques&prizes.......where does stuff like this happen?  I've never seen anything like it before?  Maybe at Burning Man, but i've never been to one, so i deem these first pics.........

OK late to arrive late to leave, well kind of... First off Fishmaster1 your flag rules...my little eity bitty Raider flag has a lot of room to grow.... :smt003

Was supposed to be there thur...arrived Fri 6:30pm put out OTW 7:30ish fished to the bitter end with a china and a black to show for my efforts...but I fished, I remember asking peeps why they wernt' fishin? the water had layed down in the late afternoon...noticed a pattern every eve it layed down!!!

I would have to say for all of us "we only met a third of the people there" and would of wished to "Meet All" of You... putting faces to names "Hello" it was great!!!

Caught 1 nice red and a bunch of blacks on sat...had 3 big pull downs, waiting for that "Lingzilla" but such is the way...

The crabbing was not lacking on the crab, just the right size!!! and every eve on the docks was an encounter, with everyone that was precipitating...

Sunday was looking for "Mr Magoo" who was not getting any love "sat" was going to take him out and show him a spot i found but he left early...still a pleasure to meet u... and ringnebula, didn't meet u but tried... I thought your handle was Ring bula if u said it, was in Fiji in 04 but now i know...hope to meet u in person one of these days..I fished from 10:30ish till 6:30ish and was about numb till I wandered up to fishmaster1's camp and thankfully they had a roaring fire to warm my cold aching bones!!! and a very, very Huge Thank you to Anita and Ben for that hot Plate of pasta after freezin my ass off OTW all day sunday.. :smt006 :smt002 :smt001

Pisciform/Aaron it was great to fish sunday with u...it took all day to get a limit...but Monday sorta ruled...I was coming in @ 10:30 when everyone else was headed out...talked with Don D for a few minutes and after I got in, heard he got a 32 in Ling...WTG Don D :smt044 :smt044 :smt044 fishing was better than all the previous days and I had to leave don't ya know.... :smt003
Thanks to all that put on that most incredible feed, and most IMPORTANT to all THOSE that "made it happen"!!! The Most Awesome time that you can have Legally... :smt003 :smt003 :smt003

And Hello to all of u I didn't meet :smt006 :smt006 :smt006 I hope to meet u one of these days!!!

Talk to ya laters...and keep a smile on your mug!!! You might not know about "NCKA" and u do...So Enjoy it and SEE YOU at THE NEXT EVENT!!! Keep It Real!!!

I'll start out by saying MANY THANKS TO MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF NCKA  :smt008  Especially to our big brother Sean for making these top shelf events possible = luv ya brah  :smt008

It seems like every get together (on a small or to a large scale) is ALWAYS a memorable one. It clearly shows how our community is well above par to any other = and that's simply because of YOU - the NCKA member :smt008

Congrats to all the winners...truly, there were no losers...as far as I'm concerned, everyone who attended came out on top and all the pics posted proves it all. EVERYONE WAS HAVING A GREAT TIME   :smt045  This clearly shows that it's not all about the fishing anymore when NCKA gets together.....it's simply about absolute camaraderie  :headbang:

My high lites include:
* meeting new faces as always :smt006
* seeing my old comrads - whom I have not seen for a while  :smt006
* doing some other stuff besides yak fishing:
- going up the river paddle and picking wild berries with da crew
- making the mistake of falling asleep at the campfire...within striking range of a few NCKA pranksters :smt013
- taking the time to actually get-to-know my NCKA family members
- and simply taking in the scenery and relaxing  :white

Many thanks to all of you who fed da mooch....all I had were cup o noodles  :smt011 Randall / Bigfoot = thanks for sharing your nest and grub with me once again  :smt058 I truly appreciate your hospitality  :smt023

Once again, the NCKA rockfish fiesta was a blast--thanks Sean!

My nephews are sold on getting kayaks and chasing fish...can't wait to get them on the big water!  My folks loved the company and the food.  They keep coming up from San Diego for the atmosphere & quality of the people--thanks to all NCKAers for being great people...and great fishermen(& women).

Here is our contribution to the memoirs:

1,2 - Easiest launch ever.

3 - Short of glory, but full of tasty.

4 - "Big trouble for little china"

5- My nephews' version of "Deadliest Catch" was hillarious (thanks Ben!)

6 - NSeine's Deep Fried Cheese Cake was a heart stopper

7- Steph braving the motion of the ocean a second time (Sunday)

8,9 - Steph and I rocked the cabs Sunday

And Z you couldn't make it but I love the T-shirt! :smt007
It was Ash's 1st time Ocean fishing, but she did good & enjoyed it. :kick
The launch was awesome.  The current kindly sent you out to the sea & took you back to the ramp when we were finished.
I didn't tell her there but some sets were pretty big... :smt009
Fishing was pretty slow, but she got a fish on her very 1st drop (her B-day gift from Levi; Shimano Lucanus).  That was cool!
I got a nice Cab early in the morning, so it got me excited a little, but I couldn't find the Lings... :smt012

That was an awesome event and the 1st one that I actually participated in. I'm just glad that I didn't get sick and was able to catch a couple of fish.

Thanks Sean for taking the time to put this together and congrats to the winners!!!  It was good seeing everyone, just wish I would have been able to hang out with people more.

P.S. Mooch you're a Sexy Beast!!!! :smt002

Thanks everyone for another incredible NCKA experience. As legendary as the Elk event is, I'm glad I was able to participate at a new venue & event, and ya gotta love that Albion launch. Special thanks to Sean & family for hosting - even though Leah & the girls weren't there, I'm sure they supplied plenty of support.

The food was insane as always - still recovering from trying to taste everything at the potluck. Gotta give credit to the Fish Master chuckwagon & neighboring crews for the constant smorgasbord over there. Also, props to ChuckE with some of his delicacies and the hospitality of the Tote spread.

Major thanks to all who documented with tons of great photos, of which I'm lacking here, sorry.  :smt012

And, of course, congrats to the tourney winners - a tough day of fishing so you deserved it.
:thumleft:

I ended up staying 'til Tue am because I was out on the water a little later than planned on Mon - it turned out to be redemption for me (I'll report separately).  :smt003    Thanks, Mooch, for giving up your Man Van space - like a hermit crab, I moved in next to Bigfoot & Tommy, who generously shared their site and grub.

A huge thanx the SBD for the event of the year, and congrats to the winners and cheers to all who went! I landed a bid Canary that went back and a Rosy RF that went to Andy's chowda', Mmmm Mmmm good. The crabbing was a blast, sight crabbing, when the smelled the salmon carcass they went nuts, I got 4 keepers on Fri, none thereafter but a million small ones, lots of fun anyway and I just cleaned 'em and have a big pile of meat for Enchiladas.
Camping next to Andy=eating lots of good grub, Thanx Bro!
Great jamming with everyone, and meeting new folks and seeing old friends, always a blast. Next, MBK...

Not much left for me to say... Thanks again Sean for arranging another outstanding event.  It was a nice little getaway for some of the busy Dads like myself and Bluefin17 and others.  I enjoyed the location and I think with the right ocean conditions, that place should be plenty fishy.  It was great therapy nonetheless.

Pot luck blew my BLOTY out of the water but I will recover.  The "InSeine Deepfried Cheesecake" was indeed insane... good work everyone!  Zee... can't say enough about the shirts.  The diversity of talent among this group is truly incredible.

The obligatory bridge shot. Think about the logistics of this shot. I swear a truck mirror brushed my arm. Stupid move for a mediocre pic. Till next time my friends. We'll try to hit the Mill Creek event in September. Till then, you guys are great.

We actually got to see Placerville on the way home when polyg Alan took the 50 by mistake. He asked me if I remembered a stop light on 80. Yeah, there - I said it.  :smt005

FYI, I believe those crabs were C&Red right after the photo was taken. Accidental bycatch.  :smt004
