I got a dragonfly 4dv to add to the yak, mounting the transducer in the hull under the cup holder.

Still unsure where to mount the finder and battery box. A buddy used a plastic ammo box and bolted it to the floor of his hull, but I don't see a flat space on this hull to do it.

Any suggestions?   I've searched and find a lot of approaches, just curious what has worked well after some usage.

Thanks,
if it swims, fish it.

I always use small tupperware boxes for my batteries. Tied or bungied against a scupper or sail mast. Similar topic below:

Rather than bolt,,, use   glue.    a flat plastic sheet to the hull with a bungee cord attached to that.  The bungee could be looped over whatever battery box you decide to go with  ( ammo / tupperware )

I use a slidetrax sideboard to mount my FF on my Tarpon 120. It keeps it within reach and out of my way.

Double hook 3M  high weight rated Velcro works great. No battery box required. Easy to maintain. Don't leave home without it.

I like the lock n lock to keep the water off my battery, especially in salt water.

Hey MrT
10 different people will do it 10 different ways and thats OK
I did it a way that works for me
I have a  lot  of open cell foam(blue)
Cut to size and marine gooped it in place.
I use a drybox to store the battery in and another cut for a tight fit so nothing moves.
Works great!
I  use a water bath, shoot thru hull for my transducer, close cell foam (black)
The close cell foam won't leak like the open cell does.
I'm sure there are better set- ups than mine but this works good for me!
If you or anybody needs some of that of open cell foam(blue),I've got a shitlload of it, PM me and we can figure something out...
It also works good for setting yaks on for storing or transporting  yaks
Good Luck
Scotty

Here we go again! Lol

OP,

If there's not a flat spot in the bottom big enough for the box, maybe there is for the battery alone? If it's an sla battery, you don't need a box. I laid down a couple strips of velcro in 2 of my kayaks under the rear hatch to easily move the battery between kayaks.

OK Tridents at least have a battery bag - but it's not big enough to hold a small case with a LiOn battery...

The Tarpons have a pretty flat hull.  I use a 4"x6" piece of outdoor Velcro, hook side gooped to the hull, and it'sll hold an SLA in a battery box even with the kayak upside down (http://www.amazon.com/VELCRO-Brand-Extreme-Outdoor-Titanium/dp/B00404NIA6/ref=sr_1_3?s=office-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1488978240&sr=1-3&keywords=outdoor+velcro).

I use the outdoor Velcro because the hooked side is easier to clean than regular Velcro if it gets gunked-up.

When you say water bath mount, is that just water around the transducer block?

I've got foam gooped to the interior now that holds the ducer with a little friction.   If
I'm reading right, before use I just add water to keep from having an air pocket between the hull and the ducer?
if it swims, fish it.
