No smartass responses like "my weed"...thank you very much :smt006

Is this how you might want to store your rockfish, sturgeon, halibut, etc. rigs???

I can fit lures into them too, although eventually a hook might poke thru. I've seen tackle bags with multiple round tubes for holding lures though...guess this is preferred.

Rather than one big hunking tackle box with everything inside...I'm thinking one bag of rigs, another of weights, another of swivels/hooks, and one with lures.

How do most of you partition your tackle? Do you only bring on yak a few rigs targeting what you're hitting for the day?

I use them to store my plastics.
I keep my tacle seprated by techneque in tacle trays I.E. live bait/mooching, trolling, rockfish jiging, creek trout, lake trout, crapie/bluegill, catfish,
my bass stuff is orgnised with like stuff together: topwater, crankbaits, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, my plastics are in binders: handpored worms, sencos, creature baits,  and my rockfish plastics

this way I can grab just what I will need for the day and leave the rest at home.

I use them for storing my flies. The hooks don't penetrate it. I assume you aren't using trebles.
I also have one for the different shooting heads (fly rod stuff).
I have also put lures and plastics in them. Check the ones at www.kayakfishingstuff.com. This is the big one I have and  the plastic bags can be swapped out with inserts you can buy or maybe even make. It would entail cutting a ziplock to size and sewing on a piece of velcro.

I think they are best suited for flat lures and rigs would work fine. Anything too round goes into the plano.

They are handy for all kinds of stuff...including my weed (JK...someone had to say it and since I live in Mendocino Co. kinda figured its my responsibility) Hook packs, swivels you name it.  This little guy which is 1/2 pages and one Plano box is my all time favorite for the yak...http://www.tacklelogic.com/1697-00PAGE.htm

Thanks for the link...that's a nice little all-in-one tackle bag...have to pick one up.

Are compartments in plastic box big to hold like a 6# pyramid?

I think I'll have one 'master' tackle box for salt and one for fresh...then two smaller bags like in the link you gave to hold stuff I'm just targeting on that particular trip. Cool...

I'm heading back to San Pablo bay this sunday....just gotta try my new lures and fish the channel and duck blinds.

If I hook up some  rigs I will usually do more than one hook size and then I put them on a small piece of cardboard.

you can sink the hook into the card board, wrap the line around it so it doesn't get tangled up and then the end of the line you put a small slice on the edge of the cardboard and that's where you put the bitter end of the line.

Personally I like do as much rigging before my trip as possible, I allways have a variety of weights for different tide conditions etc. In a kayak you are going to find that you probably are going to want to keep things very simple. rig for what you plan to do and then maybe two back up plans.

Mike are you lanching from China Camp so you can ride the Tide back?
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

Eric Ye (another eBay'r) and I are going this sunday and were planning on leaving from China Camp...rain or shine. Even if Eric doesn't end up going I still will. My wife has agreed to shop in San Rafael/Marin for the day while I'm fishing...bless her soul...

I won't be heading out to gps location...plan on fishing channel and to duck blinds only. If it gets hairy I'll be close to launch area.

Looks like high tide is about noon I was thinking of launching about 10:30-11
trolling around for an hour or so than fish the outgo for a couple. Are you going to be on channel 69?
