Long range forecasts are looking promising for pretty flat water and a possible break in the wind this Sunday at the Cove.  Rockfishing opens Friday and there's a great minus tide Sunday morning.  Hopefully the salmon will cooperate for a sweet tri-fecta~

Forecast updates later this week.

You in, Sonny?

Fort Bragg is just up the coast from Van Damme.  Shelter Cove is all the way up 1 - it goes inland back to 101, then you'd go 30 minutes north to Redway and come over to the Cove on a small road that takes about 40 minutes from 101.  Short story:  not close!  Good luck in Mendo, CP.   :smt001

You guys have some fun.  The rockfishing has been good down this way.  Sorry I can not join you.  I have to fly to Colorado for a trade show early that morning.  I will look for your report.

Got word from the Cove that the salmon are showing, but they're 5 miles south of the launch - 28 pounder boated yesterday (PB report).  We'll hope they come in closer by the weekend...

Hi Eric,

Bad news!   :smt013  I was assigned an urgent project and most likely have to work this weekend to complete it.  Is it possible we can postpone this trip to Monday/Tuesday (less crowded) or next weekend?

That blows, Sonny!  Better get the midnight oil out and try to finish that project on time to go.   :smt001  JK!  I likely can't do Monday or Tuesday, but we'll have other opportunities.

I'm actually hoping it'll work out for me at this point - my back has been really bad...   :smt009  Today was an extremely flat day where I would have likely bailed work and snuck over the hill to fish, but I was way laid up and had to see my chiropractor for a 2nd day in a row.  We'll see how I'm doing by Saturday - I may not be able to handle the drive and yak-sittin', as that seems to be related to my problem.  Be careful, guys, too much driving, yakking, and office-jockeying can be hazardous to your health!   :smt012
