+1 fly fisherman here.  I fly fish far more than conventional fish,  I've just never done it sitting down or on a kayak ;)

I'll be passing through Redding a couple weekends this month, maybe we can trade reports or hook up. No solid plans, could be anywhere in norcal for a week. Mostly stream fishing but I will put the kayak in somewhere.

Golfish, Flyfishing for trout near Redding?  Consider Baum Reservoir or Crater Lake on the Lassen N.F. off hwy 44.

Haven't fished Baum in years, maybe I should check it out. I'm a big Pit river guy so I'll be over there at some point. I'll probably hit some of the other usual suspects too, McCloud, Upper Sac, Klamath and some unamed spots if I get motivated for a hike.

How did the hat fish? PH#2? I haven't fished there since it went into decline, some say it's making a come back though.

Baum lake has been hammered pretty hard the last few months. A kid pulled a monster brown out of there and everyone wants to catch its twin. If you want a fun and easy fly fishing experience on the kayak up here go to Whiskeytown and launch /fish above the powerhouse. It's loaded with bookies. Sight fishing Brookies with a fly rod is a good time.
We'll be doing a kayak fishing day on the 21st at lake McCumber, more details later on that.

I fished Silverfork last Sunday with my Tenkara rod and caught tons of rainbows on top with a dry caddis.  Biggest was pushing about 13 inches with most in he 8 inch range.  For me the Silverfork is heaven on earth, it is not about the size of the fish, but the view and surrounding scenery.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
