Just seeing this post.  Late to the party again. Crazy few days.   Got in a bad car wreck and totaled my truck.  Few sore ribs but all were ok.  Last night dog got skunked.   And coronavirus freak out is kicking in up here too.  I could sure use some time fishing with friends but I’m feeling the whole social distancing thing.  Not for myself but for the people I care about.  Thanks SinCoast for making the call.  It’s much appreciated.

Hopefully this thing works itself out soon!

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: How many noodles?
« on: February 25, 2020, 02:25:52 PM »
I have 24 pool noodles inside hull.  I put 3or4 in sealed long vacuum seal bags.  12 stuffed lengthwise down each side of hull of my thresher140.   Haven’t swamped it yet to test.  But probably should.

I use Carolina rig with small#2 hook and Gulp sand worms.  Casting at pilings, jetties and docks.  Or sand crabs on same rig.  Light tackle, slack tide.  Hard to keep em off the hook.

Watch the eelgrass near mad river slough, fairhaven and king salmon.  You’ll start to see the eggs when they’re doing their thing.  I’ve never been able to get more than a few trays worth outta the bay.  Too spread out with poor access.  Crescent city will be poppin tho in a couple weeks I bet.  That’s where I usually make my bait to fill the freezer

Nice report.  I like that lure in the LMB pic...

:smt002 that’s the only fish I caught on that one. The secret lure is in the trouts mouth  :smt003
Ahhh...I see.  Lol. Most lures are to catch the fisherman’s wallet.   I must have it!

As far as I know it’s Live2fish, SuperVato, and 3$J unless there’s still fish waiting for approval.  Haven’t heard any official results

General Fishing Tips / Re: Flounder in Lagoons
« on: January 01, 2020, 08:56:09 AM »
Otters are pretty good at catching them in stone lagoon.  I’ve seen a few pictures of them eating starry flounder on the snag

Also caught a small flattie in big lagoon many years ago dragging a Carolina rigged nightcrawler

Sounds like an awesome trip.  Similar experience up north.  Those little blues make great live bait for the big lings.  Nice pics
