Kool-aid anyone?  Probably about a dozen or so other manufacturers laughing...and if it wasn't for Hobie, would NCKA exist?

and yes, if I could afford one I would probably own one....

The front hatch looks a little small. I hope it hasn’t shrunk much. I pack most of my gear in my fromt hatch.

There’s a new Compass tandem and they redesigned the Outback. The new version actually looks like an improvement. I like those new tracks & dual rudder control. Curious about the new kick-up rudder system.

“With the first major redesign of the best-selling Mirage Outback in over a decade, Hobie has single-handedly advanced the sport of kayak fishing. This fully-loaded fishing machine is built for every conceivable fishing expedition, whether you’re prowling the ocean for monster gamefish or stalking bass in your favorite freshwater fishing hole. The extra-wide standing deck offers an improved casting platform and convenient vantage point for sight fishing, allowing for superior vision from above while the revolutionary Guardian Transducer Shield gives you multidimensional vision below. The new Vantage CTW seat provides extra width for unmatched room and comfort. Four molded-in rod holders, multiple deluxe H-Track mounts, and numerous high-capacity storage compartments ensure that all of your gear is at your fingertips. Powered by the MirageDrive 180 with ARC Cranks + Turbo Fins – now standard on all Outbacks – this fine-tuned angling vessel is highly versatile, fast, quiet, and exceedingly nimble. Now featuring our Kick-Up Rudder system with dual steering capabilities, combating drift and navigating tight water has never been easier.“

Oh great Hobie can join the porker fleet!

I agree. It seems to me that weight is the final frontier in fishing kayaks and Hobie is going in the wrong direction. I also think they should offer all of their models with the lawn chair seat and 180 drive as options instead of standard equipment.

I went to a yak shop today (bought an 18 outback). The guy in the shop said the 19 outback is built on the compass hull.
Everybody dies, not everybody lives. What did you do today?

We all want lower weight and not just our yak.   It doesn’t seem to be something that keeps people away though. Look at 3 waters paddle yaks. Easily over 100. The trend is to go wide and flat with manufacturers because standing is the current fad.  Does anyone on the ocean stand in there yak?   Hope we all have good chiropractors.  At least our community helps one another and we aren’t power lifting our yaks alone on a regular basis

I'd never set foot in that shop again. Who ever said that needs help. Compass is 12', 68lbs, 34" beam. Outback is 12'9 85lbs, 34" beam. I guess they just stuck a bit on the back of the kayak to make it longer.. and heavier... :smt044

It only weighs 4lbs more than the Outback they have been making for the last few years.  Sure, I wished it weighed like 50-60lbs, but I dont find it difficult to car top or carry at all.  I'm 6'5", so I have to lift it higher than yall shorter folks.  I car top mine on my Nissan Titan with no help and no handles since they broke off a long time ago.  Get in shape if you cant power lift 100lbs.  Geez. I only weigh like 190lbs, so it's not like I'm built like a tank.  Get a trailer if weight is an issue.  I'm considering a trailer just because I can show up to the l as unch and be in the water in a third the time since all the gear can be already setup to go when you arrive.

i like the longer hull and revo-like bow, but that's about it (too bad compass doesn't have vantage seat).  looks like no room for scotty flush mounts.  not a fan of the h-rails after seeing them on a compass.  i wonder if there will be a larger sailing rudder option?

need to see it in person and demo it!
