What type of camera do you use? Cheap digital or water proof camera?
If the former, how do you stash it while on the deep blue?

I use the Pentax Optio W20  - it is water proof. What I do if I want it handy is clip it to the lanyard that my fishing license is attached to and then stuff it in my wetsuit or if I have waders on I'll put it in one of the pockets still attached to the lanyard. It comes out easy enough and should I fall in I won't sink so the limited water proofing of the camera should keep it safe in the event of an unexpected wet exit. Otherwise I'll stick it down in a hatch and pull it out as necessary. Previous to the w20 I just had a cheapo digital that I would pull out of the hatch take photos and put right back into the hatch.

I like having the knowledge that a little splash or immersion won't hurt the new camera, also I find the kind of pictures I like to take these days wasn't really conducive to having to stop and open a hatch, take picture return to hatch, close hatch... you get the point.

If your going the cheapo digital route look around and find a dry bag for it. I have never tried them but I have seen dry bags available just for cameras. You don't have to remove them to use you can shoot right through the bag or the lens in the bag although I would be suspect of the results. Maybe someone else here has tried them and can give you a review.
