Just got these from the owner of Eddyline. Also a brief review from a buddy of mine who is helping design it. "We took the boat on its maiden voyage yesterday evening. It paddles really well, significantly better than the 12 in my opinion. There's a lot to be excited about with this boat."

And that says a lot because the Caribbean 12 is one of the best paddling 12' out IMO.

Should also add, that Eddyline will rig the kayak with rod holders, anchor systems etc, while the deck and hull are still separate, and back everything up. This makes rigging 100% easier than having to do it after the fact.

Eddyline just added these photos to their Facebook page of the kayak on the water. It looks like a rocket ship!  :smt007 :smt007 :smt007 :smt007 :smt007 :smt007

Interesting price being $400 more the 12 ft. model.  Its definitely high end materials and quality craftsmanship. Looks like Eddyline is targeting the above middle class kayak angler with deeper pockets.  To be honest I got a brand new 2012 Revo for less than that retail price. But again these are different boat types.

Yup, I agree Mel.  Awesome kayak design but the price could be a show stopper.

Mel, the 12' will actually be going up $100 this year. So it will be about a $300 difference. I thought I read somewhere that the material they use has gone up in price. Its hard to compare an Eddyline Kayak with a Hobie. I used to think the same thing; for the price why not get a Hobie. Well they are two completely different types of kayaks.

Some of the pluses for me are the weight and the speed. The material they use will not oil can, it can be left out in the sun since it has a built in UV protectant. I can't wait to take the 14' out for a spin, I love the 12' Caribbean and believe that the 14' can only be better.

Looks like it's not very rock garden friendly so I'll have to use this as "proof" that I need to keep my current kayak AND have a new one too :smt044

I use my 12' carribean for rock garden launches and it does well. The hull does well on minor glancing impacts and resist scratches better than polyethyline, but will crack on a fully loaded impact so if you are coming in hot and it's going to be a hard landing, I would bail before impact. I usually do anyways for safety reasons. The good news is if you crack the hull it is easy to repair.
