There is a new sherif in town and my ling and verm placed me in 12th place. :smt011Nice red! I can't stand to see what made it only 12th place. :smt006
Give us more !
Thank-you Eric! Very Much Appreciated and Well Done! :smt006
The secret to lots of points was have at least 4 point count fish. I thought I was be in the top 10 with the catch, but was happy to be numeral dos. Met a lot of great people and I never thought I would say I was happy to miss winning a kayak by 27 points, but I am estactic that Big Jim beat me. Fine gentleman with a lovely family deserves it more than I do. He now has a lot safer kayak. Not really good for an 8' person to fish a 9' boat.
Special shout to BigJim, WTG! Congrats. My kids really enjoyed hanging out with your daughter, she is a sweetheart.
Let's just say there was some aggressive seal activity both saturday & today. This pic is one of two different lings I caught that had been bitten. Not to mention the personal indignity inflicted upon me by a seal. But I did extract my revenge..... Thanks for the bat Guitarzan! :smt005
hey guppyreneer - what's up with the patterns on that lingcod? Is that a photo artifact?
'
Tell us what the seal did to you.
Jim, you are a class act, and nobody was more deserving of that new boat than you are. I really enjoyed meeting you and your family, and look forward to fishing with you again soon.
Eric, you are the man! Thank you.
Big Jim - I had referred to him as "Rookie of the Year" a few months back because of his reports showing obvious fishing skill, his plating skills (and accompanying photos :smt007), his way cool friendship vibe, and, without pushing anything heavy, his admirable devotion to charitable causes. When I met him and shook his hand (that should be more accurately described... how about, "when I put my hand in the vice" :smt005) I was instantly validated in my assessment of this man. It's one thing for me to root for a guy for being nice and having great reports, but when Jim won the tourney I was very pleased to see what seemed to be a universal agreement among the group - he deserved it, and not just because he needed a bigger boat. Bravo, Jim - you are tops in my book, sincerely, Brother, sincerely. :smt056

Cooked up some bean that were a littel on the hot side
Yeah I was wondering who crafted those beans?! They were fantastic. Almost as good as your thai peanut sauce abalone on Friday!
Besides I don't think anyone could tolerate BigJim in his clown car yak any longer. There was talk of making him wear a Bozo wig and clown make up if he kept it up.
He didn't mention his one other prize he got on Sunday. He let me dive for abs with him because he took pity on me because I forgot my float. While diving he lost his weight belt. About 20 minutes later I found one that had been down long enough to begin to grow fur. I humped it out of the depths a few feet at a time to a wash rock. Back at the beach he declared it nicer than the one he lost (it fit too). So he was still upgrading equipment. I hope he bought a lottery ticket on the way home because his luck was running hot.

NCKA has brought people together, and they're not just any people - they're kayakfishermen, and they are one of the finest groups of people on this planet. I'm so proud to be a part of this group, and I hope everyone involved in our sport and our club recognizes how special what we have is. the interactions with people from this board are more important to me. Thanks, everyone, and keep up the great vibe. :smt001
more pics
Ok with that said, did that mole pictured in the net about an hour ago (Near the front of the posts) ever get used as bait? :smt044
Outstanding gathering! Eric - congrats on another successful NCKA event! Maybe you can save me a spot for next year :smt002

Jim

Jim,
I'm with you. Clowns freak me out too, especially after watching Steven King's movie It!!
Two cannibals catch a clown in the forest and start eating him. One cannibal looks at the other one and says, " does this taste funny to you.?" :smt003

In return for the generosity of everyone, I think for next GS5, I will help compile a gear bag of stuff for people like myself that lost everything. So, keep that in the back of your minds guys, and spare or old gear, set aside, and we can have a splash dog prize for most poetic dismount!
