Not sure what time the event is scheduled to start but the gates to Jetty don't open until sunrise.

Hi All~ :smt006
I'd like to join in on the crabfest fun. Sounds like a blast. I waited to "RSVP" because it's a bit out of my element, I've never crabbed from the yak but I'm totally ready and willing to try it! Any advice on what to buy for set up would be great. Also, should we book any spot in particular since the jetty is all booked? We don't have motor home or camper so we will be tenting it.  :smt011
I've never been to Bodega Bay but have heard lots about it and I'm "Reel'E" excited to check it out! :smt044

Evelyn~

A lot of people are using Promar 102W because of its weight and how easy it is to use. Make sure to check the regulation as there are some new changes in regards to modifying the traps. Search the threads, there’s a lot of how to’s on this topic. If you’re one of those people that likes to check their traps frequently, then bring some crab rings as well

As for the camping, the regular camp ground is not that far from the Jetty campground. You can always chance it as people tend to cancel and give up their site Days prior to the event, but that is a long shot as people grabs them fast.

Thanks~
I will do my homework and look up the info you provided and also see if I can lock in a site at the regular camp ground.  :smt006

There are first come, first served sites available at all the campgrounds. I like the walk in tent campground, it's quieter.

This is the most complete introduction to crabbing I have seen:
https://coastsidefishingclub.com/grey-beard-articles/crabbing-guide/
Also see the attached pdf written by someone on this board.

You will probably be in 15 - 30 feet of water at Doran so 40' shots of line will be plenty.

You could stop by Petaluma Sport Shop & Dive on the way, and they will get you set up.

The start is usually at Sunrise, that's when the gates open to the day use area. I will be posting up more info by the end of the week. I have been home sick the last few days.
