General Talk / Mike's Paddle Kayak Storage
« on: May 01, 2019, 04:22:12 PM »
Not being paid or anything but had a problem with kayak storage a while back so just though I would share.  I accidentally stumbled about it on CL and hey, might as well check it... looks good.  So this is for anyone in Alameda area that has a problem with kayak storage.  Way cheaper than renting a storage space.  $60 per month with kayaks up to 20'.  More details here.

For Sale / Pescador Pilot. SOLD!!!
« on: April 17, 2019, 02:39:54 AM »
I haven't had the time to use it for a few months and it has just been catching dust instead of fish.  I got it last year and it has scratches from beach launch and stuff.  It is stored indoors (in the apartment).  This is for pick up only in Alameda and can test it out on Crown beach.

Comes with:
1.  Fish Finder (Lowrance Hook 5 WITH Downscan Imaging) battery and ram mounting base.
2.  2 flush mount rod holders (one on each side).
3.  Anchor Trolley.
4.  Kayak Cart & Strap.
5.  Paddle (Carbon fiber handle)
6.  Lube gun for pedal maintenance.

So for anyone looking for their first kayak or value for the money pedal kayak, this is for you! Fully rigged to fish.  This is $1,799 brand new for just the bare kayak plus TAX!.  But for this, I'm looking to only get  $1,400 for everything.

Lots of bait in west marine in shoreline mall, next to the kid’s playground.  Prices aren’t that bad but the bag though.... the anchovies are becoming smaller vs the tray.

Safety First / Re: breaking off a snag

Make sure the front of your yak is facing the direction of the snag line (to avoid flipping) and put the rod horizontally towards the direction of of the snag (so that you won’t break your rod) thumb the spool and reverse like there’s no tomorrow.  If it doesn’t work, go to the opposite side and repeat steps.  Usually works for me.

Can we use multiple hooks when targeting bait fish? Or still covered under 3 hooks?

Thanks!

Yeah with the minus tide the batrays and sharks are gonna be out prowling. It probably was a baytray. They are fun tho!

Thank you for that info!  Learned something new.

Was really considering heading out there as well, wind was nice and calm this morning but figured I save my chance for a slightly less steep tide day.

The big one that didn't stop sounds like a shark or bat ray to me but then again.....

Thanks for the reports All!

It is as Bob says (the fight) but the weird thing is I got a 20lb leader that is connected to my halibut rig which is a 30lb fluro and it was cut off clean on the terminal tackle.  Do they have sharpe teeth?  If not, then it should have been the 20lb leader that broker off, right?

I was there and basically just caught weeds.  Did a hail mary and caught something big.  Had an explosive pull that sent my reel screaming.  Felt like pulling a truck.  Turn around and pedal towards its direction to catch up the line.  Saw my lead weight (10ft more to the hooks) when it decided to run again (took a turn towards bay bridge) and eventually lost almost half of my line.. About 25mins (give or take) later, cut through my line clean (30lbs fluoro).

Shark? Or super big ass halibut?

Selling the extra yak that the Mrs. is not gonna use.  This was my first  yak,  has been used a lot.  Looks good and still floats.  Has scratches from dragging on the beach.  Asking is $375,  all you see on the yak.  Pick up at Alameda.  Thanks!
