Title: Downrigger setup

Anyone got a downrigger set up on their Raptor? I need some ideas on the best way to set this up without my paddle hitting it. Pics would be ideal. I don't have any Scotty flush mounts or rails for this yet so I'm wide open on available options.

Thanks G-Whiz. I like the area and the wide Scotty flush mount you used for your downrigger. Makes sense since you're dragging around a 3 pound weight. I'll see if I have enough flat area on my kayak. Looks like I could still use the stock rod holders if I  mount the downrigger there. I like the way you set up your yak. Gives me ideas.

Dang, I don't think the Scotty 344 flush mount will fit on my kayak. I do see a gimble mount option that might work but it might be a pain in the butt to crank the line since it'll be farther behind me. I'm also thinking I just put a long plank and just tuck in under each side of the paddle/fishing pole bungie cords and mount the down rigger on that.

As stable as the yak is, you could crank on it backwards and you wouldnt tip over...

one thing to remember, if you mount the downrigger in front of your paddling stroke zone, you will have major problems tangling with the DR and/or fishing lines.
