Hi guys:

WAnt to remind everyone that the kayak connection in conjunction with oceean kayaks is putting on the annual Father's Day kayak fishing tournament.

Loch Lomond opens at 6am, so get there early and wait for the gate so you can get a good parking place.  Tourney is set to begin at "daybreak."

i suppose that means when enough guys get there and get the yaks in the water.  it will alrady be light by 6am for sure.

Good news is that the trout fishing hads been pretty good at the lake, and they got a 1500 lb plant of Coleman variety (pink meat) just Tuesday.

I'm going to be trolling the middle of the lake see what I can catch.

also, the ranger says she has "heard of" a number of 5-6 pound bass caught in the past week.  Pity to keep a largemouth, but for a new kayak....?

Anyway, check the Kayak Connection website for an entry form, or sign up on the day of.  Hope to see you there!

Allen

For all you yakkers that think you are going to be fishing on the ocean this weekend... check the weather forecasts. Fishing for a new yak seems a whole lot better than watching tv at home.

Tight lines,

Freddie

Awwright!  Molbasser's strategy seems pretty clear.....big bass, eh?

think I'll stick to the middle of the lake and troll for trout, though I just might unveil the secxret bass lure.  never known to fail......

You don't need to get on 17 at all, but you could.

If you do get on 17 you exit on Mt. Hermon road just a tad out of santa cruz.

Take Mt. Hermon to East Zyante road and turn right.  From E. Zyante you should be able to follow the signs.

It is easy to map out on maps.google.

I think the turns are thus.

Highway 1 to 17N
17N to Mt. Hermon (L)
Mt. Hermon to E. Zyante (R)
E. Zyante to Lompico Rd. (L) (fork in the road)
Lompico Rd. to West Dr. (L) follow the road left and up

West road winds up the hill and turns into sequoia ave which leads to the gate.

Gate opens at 6 am.

Allen, is there a cost involved? I'd assume so. How much?

Day of event entry is $35

It will cost you $6 to park and launch at the lake.

Hey Garen!

dude, you gotta come up and meet some of the NCKA crowd.

The entry list is very short, so there's a good chance of winning a brand new Ocean Kayak PROWLER.

I think the kayak has not yet been shipped from the factory as yet, which is a good thing, because the winner can pick the color of chaice.

(I think yellow is nice)

also, I'll be gone all next week on a camping trip with the kids to  Eagle Lake, but when I get back, Garen, we have to go out fishing here in Santa Cruz, OK?

Hey SCallen,

Is this a annual event for you and family. I went for the first time last 4th of July. Camp and tried out the trout fishing. Rented a  boat and fished mostly on the side what they called, I think, Eagle Ridge. Didn't catch anything tho.

On my last day there.  I tried offthe shore near the camp ground  and hooked into this nice 3 pounder It was the only fish i caught in the 15min. I was fishing. I was hooked and plan on going back this July. Maybe I'll run into you. Have fun and enjoy :smt004
