What do you all think about this kayak for the ocean and lakes?

Seems to be a great value with all the features.

Looks like a cross between a trident 13 and a tarpon.  800 on craigslist new.

I looked long and hard at these and decided against them due to no dealers being available at the time to test paddle one.

I found that they are mass produced in china using the same/similar mold under a few different names:

I know they have a lifetime warranty through Vibe though and you do get alot included - however for a bit more you get a name brand kayak that will have a much better resale value that you can actually gather good information on.

Most of the reviews I found were folks who had bought one as their first kayak - myself and many others were very happy just to have a kayak and found later down the road that there were much better options available.

That doesn't mean it's a bad kayak of course. Just hard to tell without paddling one and seeing how well it holds up over time(cracks, etc).

This boat is significantly wider than either the Tarpon or Trident. It reminds me a lot of the older OK Big Game. Big and very stable, but very slow. As you said, for $800, there are great deals to be had on better quality, used boats on CL or the classifieds here.

front hatch is not usable otw....never got that one???

handles look like a pain to long carry...color is nice..specs look Heavy duty  :smt001 ...probably super stable  :smt002..the link does not show bottom...wonder if there is one to demo some where?

I was able to try one in Petaluma the other day and was overly impressed.  So I ordered one in Appalachian camo.  I'll make sure to give a detailed report on it once I have some hours on it..

As mentioned on the post uptop.   Have you experienced in other kayaks or demo'ed name brand ones?

Personally I feel for being plastic. kayaks are expensive.   Im sure what cost to produce is design and mold.

I hope its a great kayak. lots of features and priced well.

I've had mine out a lot this week.  Its wide. Tracks really well.  Kingfisher seat is really comfortable.  You can easily stand up.  Rear hatch is flimsy.    Overall for for the price its impressive.

Ok now that I have put some miles on my Vibe Sea Ghost 130 I can give some insight on this kayak.  First let me say that my prior kayak experience has been in a field and stream eagle talon, a friends wilderness systems thresher 140,  and a ocean kayak.   The stability is amazing,  tracks straight as an arrow and rudder works very well,   Its very comfortable with the kingfisher seat upgrade and has a huge 550 lb capacity.  I did have a seal issue on the front hatch and called Vibe spoke directly to one of the owners.  Here is one of the best parts about Vibe. Their customer service is bar none amazing.  They will take care of their customer no mater what and the hull has a lifetime warranty.  My seal issue was handled quickly and now kayak is perfect. I see it as the perfect combination of speed and stability.  I could not of picked a better kayak for the money and my needs.  I switched with a friend who has a Ocean Kayak for the day and he didnt want to give it back.    Lol
