MBK Kayak Fishing Derby

What a great Day!  Around 30 participants which made for a good contestant/Prize ratio.  Next year, we will expect more entries.  As it was, everyone had a great time and the man-dogs were delish. LOTS of halibut came in, the biggest going just shy of 17 pounds.  Followed by a 16-pounder.  Third biggest was another halibut. this year, they also offered prizes for biggest lingcod, rockfishhaliibut, and perch.  I'm going to try and jam a bunch of pitcures in here and let them tel the story for now.  Still waiting on MBK for an offcial copy of the leaderboard. (I shoulda taken a picture of the list on my phone dang it.)

Thanks to all who attended, and especially to MBK for reinvigorating towards fishing at their DelMonte Beach site. They plan to go yearly with the derby, so keep it on your radar for next May or June!

I had a feeling I should have kept the Mackerel I caught. It had to be pushing 2lb. Also had a huge pregnant Jack Smelt kicking out eggs.

Was out there with my two brothers and a buddy. We did pretty well on the halibut and one of my brothers won with a 16.11 pounder. I limited on butts that were all cookie cutter 8 pounders but took home some nice lures with a 1.10 pound mackeral for the random catch win and my buddy got the fourth biggest butt so took home some gear too. Pretty fun event and look forward to next year.

Dude that is an epic day! You guys absolutely killed it. Dinner’s going to be good this week
