Thanks for the report. I was curious how it went. Maybe next year I’ll be able to join in the fun.

While I love Handling :smt007, I just hate  :smt013 the fact that I have yet to boat a legal Hali with one  :smt009
+1 on catching from a Handline.

Thanks for organizing and for all the food. Great seeing all my fellow NCKA friends.

I had a great time.  Thanks, Glen!!

Having caught a legal halibut on my hand line a couple years ago, I was fairly confident going in but ended up getting schooled.

After finally paddling out to the fleet, (my first time in a fleet), the fleet scattered.  So I’m left with my thoughts, and as i drift along I realize I don’t have a net, and as I’m thinking about the ticket I could get, I swear, a net floats up to me, (describe it and it’s yours).

Then I’m thinking, “hey, thanks.  Now all I need is a halibut”, and a few minutes later, something violently attacked my split tail scampi jig head!

The last one came up nice and easy, and went right on the game clip, but from the headshakes, this one felt bigger.  And meaner.

I get up to my 20lb leader, and hesitated, looking from the net to the gaff wondering which would be better and Wham, a headshake and it’s gone, my leader snapped.

I haven’t paddled that far in a long time, and was exhausted by the long paddle back against the wind.  Slept like a baby.

Thanks Glen for putting this together, so much fun, nice seeing you all!! Thanks everyone for the awesome and plentiful food!
Got a trifecta  of shark , ray , and hali on the handline fishing with the fleet way out there, the long paddle back was fun. See you all again next year!

That was definitely a fun event.  My first time hand lining and I was able to catch my first halibut, sadly it was only about 20".

The only thing that sucked was that drive out of there. what a freaking joke that was just to get to the freeway.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
