It would be amazing to have the fish population so abundant that you could spear salmon.  The population of salmon 20 years ago was so much more than it is now it's crazy.  I use to go to Canada with my grandparents for 3 months a year during the summer and would limit every day in Pinks and/or coho.  My grandparents storage shed still has canned smoked coho in it.

Well our last trip to Canada was in 2004 but since then we've stocked the shed with delta salmon/striper, deer, bear, hogs, jams, jellies, tomatoes, salsa, pickles, apricots, persimmons, green beans, you name it, its there.  there are some 20 plus year old cans of smoked salmon FOR SURE!  my uncle opened up a can of smoked salmon from 1995 a couple months ago and said it tasted just as good as the day we canned it.
