Title: NuCanoe Pursuit
Post by: MontanaN8V on January 23, 2017, 12:13:19 PM
My dad bought one for my son last year. Great kayak for fishing and duck hunting, very stable. That is about all the good I have to say about them.

The handle D loop on the bow and stern will break the first or second time you pick them up. These boats are very heavy, and the D loops are plastic. Dan has an in for good metal ones that work.
Kayak is a TANK, very heavy, and you have your work cut out for you paddling that thing against ANY wind.
Supposed to be able to run as a Tandem with two adults. BULLSHIT!!!!
-Saturday we went duck hunting, we had some decoys (dozen mallard) and our shotguns. We took on water SO FAST that we almost did not make it. We paddled about 1/4 mile and had well over 30 gallons of water in the hull. Another 50 feet and we would have sunk.

All in all, if it is going to be a solo kayak, or a small child as the second passenger, it will do just fine. Stable, easy to stand in. Great for freshwater lakes, ponds, and the delta. Be prepared to have a very heavy kayak, and do not try to put two adults in the kayak. I am worried about taking this into the ocean because it is so hard to paddle against wind or strong current.

Any follow up on the Pursuit?  Also, curious as to what you are comparing this to.  Thanks!

Not a tandem. It is a great platform for a purpose, personally, it isnt practical. Way too heavy and a slug to paddle. But if you want a stable yak with tons of space, it's for you. Hunting it is ok, I only say that due to mobility of the yak. A pedal drive for a grand is available, havent tried it yet.

The problem with that becomes registration...
