I've been wanting to try Donner Lake for Macks for a while. In my new effort to "do something with my life" I've decided this is the weekend. I've got a camp site at Granite Flat Campground and I hope to fish Saturday and Sunday morning. I've never been there, so I'm looking for suggestions on where to launch. The recent fishing report I read says the west side is producing. Is there any good launchng close to the west side? What's the 411 in general about launching at Donner Lake? Thanks

I just find a place on the road to pullover where I have water access. The lake isn't very big you can go anywhere pretty quick.

I only got to drive part of the lake but there looks to be so much private property I couldn't find a place to park much less launch.  I'll launch at the ramp tomorrow.

I just launched on the NE side on the side of the road. Just after the lake starts. Easy carry to water.

Shoreline Park
14583 James Ave, Truckee, CA 96161

I think Shoreline park is still free & closer to China cove, if you gonna fish there, but try to get there early since it's a small place.

There are boat ramp in front of the fire department, and parking fee is cheap (I think ~$5), but sometime they will try to charge you launch fee $10/CA resident & $15/Nevada, But of course I got charged $15 before...

I ended up launching at the public ramp. It was $3. I got there early so parking wasn't a problem. On the map I see the Donner Beach Club at the NE end of the lake. When I drove by it was packed so I didn't try to park and check it out. Looking at google maps I see some parking on the SE end of the lake that might work, or is that part of the state park? I saw the shoreline park but it was also packed so I just drove by. Does anyone know what the area on the SE part of the lake is?
