Hey everyone, just picked up a pro angler 12 over the 4th holiday and intend on getting into some delta bass fishing. I grew up in Eastern Canada so I am complete newb to Bass fishing. So any beginner tips would be helpful with respect to gear and tackle. I grew up fishing mostly brook and lake trout so mostly worms with spinners and spoons for those things. I mostly plan on fishing in the discovery bay area.

There is a lot of knowledge here. That said, you will get a bigger array of topics and and in depth knowledge at bassresource.com They have EVERYTHING, no exaggeration.

I like to finesse fish for bass. Slow, light line, soft plastics, small jigs, dropshot, etc. For my money the easiest way to catch bass and a lot of them is with the yamamoto senko, rigged weightless on a Texas rig, or a wacky rig. It's a technique that requires some patience but it works. Cast out your senko, and let it fall in a semi slack line, so when your bait hits the bottom, you watch your line, which is slack on top of the water. Once you see the line start to "jump" or straighten out, reel in a bit of the slack slowly, and set the hook straight up. Look for cover, i.e. Tules, aquatic vegetation, submerged trees and bushes, logs, and shade. Throw the senko in those spots and wait. Good luck.
