What's up everyone?

I just stumbled across this site a couple weeks ago, and figured I'd join in. It looks like there is a plethora of information here for me to soak up, and maybe I can even offer a tip or two of my own. I've done quite a bit of halibut/rockfish/lingcod fishing from my kayak down near San Luis Obispo, and now I'm looking forward to getting back out on the water here in the Bay Area. I'm an artificial lure guy about 95% of the time... I pretty much only throw 4-7" swimbaits, and they seem to do just fine for most of my saltwater endeavors for halibut and rockfish.

My yak's getting some much needed improvements this weekend (sonar, anchor and trolley, extra RAM rod holder, etc). After that, I hope to explore the bay in search of halibut until May 15th rolls around, then search out some good rocky shoreline for my lingcod fix.

Anyway, just thought I'd say hi.

Happy Saturday,

~Alex

Welcome to NCKA Alex.  Keep checking the "Hookups" section and hope to fish with you on one of these hookups.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll just drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience.

Welcome aboard Alex.  I'm envious of you as I wish I knew about kayak fishing when I was at Cal Poly.  Lots of opportunities.

Thanks for the kind welcomes, everyone. Looking forward to meeting up some time if this weather eventually clears. The bay looks like chocolate milk...

Dilbeck-
When did you graduate from Cal Poly? I studied there from 2002 to 2009-ish, now I work as an environmental engineer here in the Bay Area. The Central Coast is GREAT for kayak fishing. I mostly fished the kelp beds and sandy areas around Port San Luis and Shell Beach, but I'd also venture out in Montana De Oro (launch at Spooner Cove), Cayucos, or even Big Sur. Also did a lot of bass fishing at Lopez, Santa Margarita, and Naci.

I just dropped about $400 into my kayak last night, and I can't wait to try out my new toys when they show up.

Happy Sunday.

Welcome.  The addiction can be bad.  This webiste is home to some of the most corrupting degenerates in northern California, and most of us only want you to fish more   :smt004

Last night my wife asked if i ever thought about anything other than fishing.  This doesn't have to happen to you..   :smt011

Other side effects are better illustrated than discussed.
