One thing that stood out to me was the 100yd sprint times while paddling...on average, they’re only 2-3 seconds slower than pedaling. That’s surprising because I thought some would be much slower when paddled.

Interesting that a beast like the PA could do so well. I think that speaks to the efficiency of the mirage drive.

In any case, I think the real advantage of pedal power is endurance, not speed. For example, if you want to troll at a slow steady pace all day, pedaling is the way to go.
Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...

I agree.  But another big advantage of a pedal drive kayak for fishing is that it leaves both hands free to fish, eat lunch, put on sun tan lotion, etc., while you pedal along.  For those of us with only two arms, that's rather nice.

I have the propel and love it. It is slower than my friends outback with up graded fins. The nose does not cut waves well. It more stable than the reg. Hobies and has more deck room.

Hobie Mirage Drive w/ the turbo fins.  Just awesome.  Newer model (aka 2018) is so smooth...
We're gonna need a bigger boat!

The best pedal kayak is........ the one you test drive the best and that suits your needs. Test drive all of them.

You really need to test drive each one of them and you can personally say that it fits your needs.

Most of the manufacturers out there have good service but it is the best dealer support that you’ll need to go with.
