I think Black Ab is in your neighborhood. The GS tourney is nearby too and a great place to meet kayak fishermen. Welcome to the Madness!

Welcome aboard Jr :smt006 Attend as many hookup as possible to gain some kayak hours under your belt. We have some great guys here willing to take on
new comers. Not sure how new you are to kayaking but there is a saying that one
should be a kayaker first then a fisherman next. Hope to fish with you soon.

Welcome to the board. There are a few of us in the neighborhood. Post a hookup when your gonna go out. Watch the ocean this time of year too. As for what you need....

 For crabbing:                                                       For Saftey:
 1. crab pot or ring                                                1. VHF radio
 2. Bait (I like chicken)                                           2. Whistle an PFD
 3. Fishing lic.                                                        3. Wet or dry suit
 4. Crab guage (5 3/4 is smallest legal keeper)        4. ocean experience

 Hope this helps

Check the hookup board and or hook up with one of the groups that Pro-Sports or the Outdoor Store puts together.

The bay is a good place to learn, Adorni rowing dock or the boat ramp is a good launch and Woodley is fun to paddle around in. Watch the tides for big exchange days and plan for the periods near the highs and lows so you don't get sucked out or pushed in farther than you want to paddle.

What you need. All of the above. Then get out on the water and don't be shy. Welcome to the madness.

Welcome, jr.  Watching the hookups here, and just the board in general, is a good way to see the folks that are local to your area - there are quite a few of us.  The tournament that was mentioned is one that I put on down at Shelter Cove for the rockfish and lingcod opener - this year it's on Saturday, May 14th.  We have a big potluck afterward and many people and their families hang out for a long weekend.  The grand prize is a nice fishing yak, and there are many other prizes and good times to be had.  Get some time on the water, listen to the advice about safety, and you should find success and joy soon enough.   :smt001
