Well im not in Humboltd but I will be in a few weeks working the fair and planning on fishing trindad after...and if you want to get a flattie Robs your man but that 6 mile paddle to 250 FOW IS NOT FOR THE timid and once was enough for me...im sure you can find some ButT in more accessable water than that...good luck and look forward to your reports... go out and Get Some!!! Be safe...

Thanks guys.  Yeah been doing real well at the cove with two consecutive salmon limits (finally!) ling limits and some rockfish.  Been going almost once a week.   Looking to go monday or tuesday.  The weather looks real good out there monday through at least thursday.   Last weeks salmon were both 26 pounders.  Maybe most fun day of fishing in my life!

Still i know there is a patch of sand at the cove somewhere in the vicinity of the red buoy aka the whistle in maybe 100FOW.  One of these days ill find it!

I caught my Pac Hali in 118' just outside the Whistle.  The problem is that they're not always there, so a lingcod or a salmon is more likely to bite, but that area is likely your best bet at a shallow Pacific Halibut along the California coast.  Good luck.

Thanks Eric.  I saw a fella show up looking for halibut and he came back with a couple flounder or sole, so he must have found some sand.  I feel like when i drop to the bottom out there sometimes my weight hits something soft but usually rock.  There is not alot of 118' out there so i can figure out roughly where that is.  Thnx.  I like targeting salmon but if i catch 2 it would be fun to switch it up, esp since im likely to get lings out there looking for halibut
