I told a bunch of people at my work that I got bit by a lorakeet when I went to the LB aquarium before the Fred Hall Show.

No fun. I had a squamous cell thingy removed from my nose about 17 months ago, and here's what it looked like then. Coincidentally, I just had an appointment with the dermatologist last Friday, and everything seems to be OK.

Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...

Gnarly. Mine looked similar, but I told the assistant that I didn't want a copy of the picture...lol.

I got the doctor to take that picture with my iPhone. He seemed pretty proud of his work and was happy when I told him that picture was going in my Christmas card.

On a side note, after cutting it out, the doctor asked whether I wanted it sewed up or not. I’d never even thought about it not being stitched, but he insisted it would “fill in” and look fine. I told him to do whatever he thought was best, and after thinking about it for what seemed like forever, he sewed it shut.

I was skeptical that something like that could ever just “fill in” so I asked the dermatologist on Friday and she insisted that it would, and even hinted that this one might have been a good one not to stitch. If I had it to do over again, I’d probably go that route—just wish the doctor had discussed that possibility beforehand.

Yeah, my dermatologist recommended the stitches, too, but I'm pretty sure they didn't help a damn thing.

Bumping this thread as a reminder to get yourself checked!

Just had a big ass chunk taken out of my nose to remove some basal cell skin cancer. There was never really a bump or anything noticeable. One day the side of my nose was a little crusty, so of course for the first day or two I was picking at it. After awhile it was just a tiny open sore and after it hadn't healed in almost two months I decided I had better go have it checked.
My doctor said, 'Ehh, could be some basal cell, but I doubt it. We'll send you to the dermatologist just to be safe'.
The dermatologist said, 'Doesn't look like anything to worry about, but we'll do a biopsy just to be sure'.
Two weeks later I get the call to schedule Moh's Surgery.

Hope it's all gone bro.

Hope it's all gone bro.

Thanks, all.

During Moh's surgery they remove skin layer by layer and you wait in the office while they inspect each layer of removed skin for cancer cells.  So they keep removing layers until there is no detectable cancer cells. I think the success rate is somewhere in the mid-90's.

So crossing my fingers and going back in for a full body exam in a few weeks.
