Heck yes, thanks Eric. As a newbie to NCKA I met a lot of cool people and felt right at home with everyone.

Looks like I'm late on the report again :smt003

First,
Thank you to all the anglers who made the treck to Silver Lake ..... YOU make it all worth it.
Second I would like to thank all the sponsors .... without YOU these events could never have been.

What can I say, KAYAKERS in Northern California are the best group of people I know :smt007 .
The festivities started with a few anglers hitting the water on saturday and getting a feeling for the action. Later the famous Pot Luck .... How can one describe it other than WOW!!!!!!
The day of the event started with a very enthusiastic gathering of anglers begging to start early :smt005 fortunatley all were able to control them selfs until launch time. Having everyone ready and waiting was a blessing as we got a visit from the park Ranger asking us to rearange a few cars that were in some wrong spots. Fortunatley, everyone was able to obey his request and no tickets were issued and he even thanked us for choosing his lake.
We launched to a beautiful "flat" lake and though trout were the main target, I was content to just be able to paddle in such a beautiful part of this great country of ours. As the day continued, reports came in of a few anglers catching assorted species including Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Mackanaw and even a few Squwa fish. As the day went on I herd more and more reports come in of success and even a rumore of a super fish that turned out to be just that ... a rumore.
As the check in time approached there were a few nice fish brought in including a 21 incher brought in by Roxanne Willis. In the end it would require just a little more to make the top 3.
Here are the Top Anglers who really had the "Magic on the Mountian"

First Place - Bunny Nunes with 22 1/4"

Second Place - Dillon Gibbons with 22"

Third Place - Adam Koons with 21 1/4"
(unfortunatley Adam had to leave early for work)

Total Anglers in attendance = 52

Thank you all again for attending the Silver Lake Kayak Event,
See ya in October at Tiki Lagun,

Eric / Yakhopper

Good job out there Bunny.

I thought I might be in the running till I heard of a couple Macks that were caught. I ended up with 12-14 total trout on the day. Most were 13"-16". The biggest being a 19.5" Brown pictured below. A 21" Mack on Sat also.

Thanks to Eric and the sponsors, I had a great time!  :smt023

With the warm surface temps and no prefishing intel, I stuck to trolling the deep water hoping to hookup with something big. The only action I got was on a gold and black (chub looking?) stickbait. Had several grabs but landed just one 18" mack. No idea where I placed, but I did receive a nice goody bag from the drawing. Might even be something in there to use at Tiki! :smt002

First, a huge thanks to Eric "Yakhopper" for all his time and hard work in putting together these events and secondly, thanks to Fisherman's Warehouse and all the sponsors.    Congrats to Dillon and Adam also.   Ghost is my inspiration, teacher and truly the fisherman; he puts my fishing tackle together, since I probably will use it because it's pretty, not practical.  Catching the mack was truly another blessing in my life, in addition to having the best extended family ever, "NCKA family" you all rock!   Thanks to you all for the congrats and nice comments.  I asked Frank "Ghost" to weigh the Mack, in case I don't catch another one; it weighed in at 3 lbs. 2oz.

Bunny (using Ghost's NCKA ID)

Awesome Event guys. YAkhopper you out did yourself again! Had a great time camping with my family. I have a ton to learn about trolling from a kayak, but I feel a little better after this weekend. Props to the ladies who brought in some very impressive fish. Thanks for the great experience, see everyone at Tiki!

More proof that the NCKA fisherwomen are coming on strong.
Did Frank cook the fish for you? Seems only fair :smt003  :smt002

It was great to meet Tim (Daleshark) and share a camping spot with him.  Word of warning though; don't let him be in charge of fixing dinner!  The poor guy didn't eat until after 9pm due to a 'charcoal malfunction'.  Ha!

Also wanted to meet FolsomFishing simply because we live near each other and I'm always looking for someone to meet up and fish with.  I may have met him, but didn't but the Christian name with the on-line name.

RacinRob; I would pay good money if you ever decided to put on a fishing clinic.  I got two strikes and you got over a dozen fish?!?  That's awesome!!

Bunny; thanks for taking the time to talk about your kayak with me and my DW.  Also enjoyed discussing campers and retirement.  We are both looking forward to meeting you and yours at the next event.

Dan/Paddleboy84; thanks for delivering the drysuit.  I tried it on after I got home and it fits perfect.  My neighbor however, almost called the cops when I couldn't wait to test it's waterproofness out in the horse watering trough in his field next to my place.  I guess I should have asked first, but wasn't sure how to really go about doing that.

Good to see Tote again too.  Gotta have you and DW by the house some time.  It's just too close to NOT stay in touch.

Great meeting everyone else too.  I had a great day despite not catching anything and also want to thank the sponsors for the gift bags handed out.  Everything in that bag I can use!  Thanks for the hospitality shown to my family while there too; wife, son and granddaughter.  You guys are salt of the earth.

Wow, I really missed out on this event. I would have loved to see Bunny take first place. She is truly the spirit of NCKA. She has been so nice to Narisa and I, we consider her family. You really deserved the win, I only ask one thing Bunny, can you do it again at Tiki so Narisa and I can see you win?

Eric, you and the sponsors do such a great job of hosting these events. On our drive down to Los Angeles my wife kept saying how she wished we could have been there. She was sent to a conference last minute so we couldn't attend. We are already looking forward to Tiki.

Thank you again to Eric and all the Sponsors.

Turned out to be the luckiest too. Congrats Bunny. I love that the woman in pink out fished us all.
Thanks again Eric, we had a blast.

Big congrats on taking first place Bunny. I am so happy for you and I'm sure Frank is so proud. All I had to show for that day was a 5 seconds fight that came unbutton in the end. Thanks a bunch Eric and to the sponsors for putting on another great event. Looking forward to Tiki in October. See you all there.

WOW Bunny. WTG!!!! Second tourney won by a woman I believe and you out fished a lot of stellar anglers. I hope this will encourage more women to get out there. Nice victory for the "Screws" too.
