I'm new to the forum! I've been kayak angling for around 10 years now and I prefer it over any other method of fishing. I am from Florida and have spent most of my time fishing there. I am in the Coast Guard so am currently station in alameda. I will be here for atleast another 3 years and really want to learn all I can from you guys. Fishing techniques are a lot different then what I'm used to, so I'm excited to learn. My kayak is a Malibu x13 which I have enjoyed the past year I've been here. My Goals for this next season is to catch halibut and salmon!

There is a chance you could get ahead of schedule and catch halibut or salmon this season, though the window is closing fast.

Being stationed in Alameda you are in the right place for halibut. Although it is very late in the season for Alameda I have caught them there year round. Best months for me there are usually March through August. I live 15 mins away from the Rockwall and fish there often. I will let you know when I head out there.
