The United States Coast Guard on Sunday is searching for a missing person in the ocean near Half Moon Bay, according to officials.

Land-based rescue crews are no longer actively searching for the missing civilian, but the Coast Guard is continuing to comb the open ocean, officials stated.

A male's body was found in the surf at a Pacifica beach about 7:30 a.m., police said, but it's unknown if the death is connected to the missing kayaker.

So sad...

if it was the missing kayaker, thats a long way from HMB to Pacifica (~10 miles). Wonder how he got there and if he had a radio/PFD.

The Pacifica body wasn't the missing kayaker... he was a jumper from the GG Bridge.  Haven't heard any update on the kayaker.

The dates are off, but i heard a story told to my buddy by local Jeff C. Told to me on that day, sunday. Did not ask when it happened. Jeff said Doug @ HMBK rented a boat, the dude never came back. Jeff went out in his whaler looking. Somehow they decided the renter was a thief.
All I could think about was, it must have been a nice boat. And where did he paddle it to?
