Good Times! I got down there Friday evening in time to cruise through camp and see old friends - both those who I've previously met in person as well as those I hadn't yet. It was very cool to check out a new place to me, and what a great setting for the the NCKA family to let it all hang out. Got to bed at 1AM - not too many brews, just excited for the tourney! Woke at 3AM and couldn't sleep any longer. Got up just after 4 and got my boat down to the ramp while stars were still shining strong overhead. Walked through camp and visited with other excited clubmates as they prepped their boats and gear. Got on the water just after the first couple of paddlers - it was dark and the ocean was rough. Making my way out in the dark through what was a somewhat narrow channel of safety into extremely sloppy rough conditions and a new-to-me Whistle Buoy was a great rush. Trolled for salmon for hours until wooziness started getting me. Moved inside to work chove on and near the bottom and got my sealegs back a bit. Then on the radio it was a simultaneous salmon bite for Steve - the awesome 31 pounder - and then Allen/O2B. That got me out there trolling again for a while, but the seasickness was winning. It would turn out to be a day where more people than I could've imagined ended up saying they felt sick. Got off the water just before check in and I'd only landed 4 underlings, 2 canarys and a sanddab - odd day, but great fun with great people. A challenging ocean is never boring. The tournament and potluck were a great pleasure. Great thanks a JOB WELL DONE to Craig and Linelle and all who helped out. Today a few more salmon were caught and I put in lots of trolling time, but it wasn't my time for more fish. I'll give it a few days. :smt003 Bailed out around 145 and home just before 5. Can't wait til next year. :smt001

Craig and Linelle,
Thanks so much for hosting such a fine event. Sorry I missed it this year but will make it next year. Was hoping you would get better WX but guess that is just part of the magic of Albion.

Thanks Craig!
Memorable Highlights:
Tote's open bar every night.
Diving with Tote and Harry on Thursday.
Farmers Market in Mendocino on Friday with Family.
Slow fishing on Saturday, but 3 NCKA swimmers created some excitement. I nominate Batt the official Lifeguard of NCKA. Humbled by some huge stringers at the fish cleaning station. Salty insulted my Cab by questioning if it was legal. Got spayed by the hose twice while cleaning my small fish.
CaptainMorgan's Patron, AgaveNector, Lime margaritas on the rocks.
Insane's fried cheesecake.
Fish-n-Brews prosciutto wrapped Mellon with balsamic.
TigerFish's prosciutto wrapped wahoo.
O2B's salmon spread.
Too many to list...
CaptainMorgan's hot streak in the raffle.
Awesome potluck, raffle and award ceremonies. Craig loves giving stuff away and it shows. AbChild was delighted with a caught hat and lure.
The contagious enthusiasm, joy and excitement throughout the entire weekend!
What will be the date for next years event?

I'm already chomping at the bit for next years date.
This is going to be hard to top.

Awesome Tote...they were spouting all over the place...How close were you able to get???
-
DAMMIT !

I didn't get the full experience of the Albion festivities, missed out on Tote's bar, snores from the next tent keeping me awake, and dropping quarters for a broken shower. Our anniversary meant I had to suffer through a room at Seaside Cottages in Mendocino with a great view of the headlands, jacuzzi, and steak dinner at The Little River Inn.......dam, I miss camping!!! :smt044 Bank account took a hit, but, WAF account received bonus deposit :smt001 Turns out a big part of that WAF bonus was the pot-luck (she loved the Thai peanut sauce chicken and a lot more).
Launched about 6:30 with no previous salt kayak experience. Heard it was pretty snotty and saw several already heading in "green in the gills". I figured I'd keep my focus on the conditions around me more so than the fishing and stick close to the crowds and count on safety in numbers. My goal; don't chum and don't fall out of the boat. Surprisingly, it took just a short time to feel pretty comfortable and I ended up spending my time watching different guy's techniques and shooting a few pics.
A little fish porn for those who missed out;

Thanks to:
Tote & Becky
RacinRob & Berta for the campsite

Everyone who donated to the raffle & prizes
The NCKA family for 3 great days of peace, love and bloody decks.

Awesome Tote...they were spouting all over the place...How close were you able to get???
At first I thought there were some seals cruising by.
The sound of a marine mammal breathing as it breaks the surface sounded like a seal or two but I didn't see anything.
It got louder, still no sight ot them. Then even louder and I thought maybe they were scoping me out; still no sight.
Then I heard it REALLY loud. I was facing south parallel to the shoreline. I quickly turned and saw it at my 3:00.
I could have casted and hit it. Amazing creature. Not very big, by whale standards that is.
It took me a while to dig out the camera. The vid is of just one whale.
During the tourney when El Dorado was in the drink and, like everyone else, I was trying to get a fix on his location, I yelled 'OH $HIT!
Racin Rob asked me what was going on...I said nothing...but a whale had just surfaced about 50 yds from us.
Crappy seas, fog, a brother screaming HELP on the radio then a whale briefly shows itself that close; what else was there to say? :smt044

This was my first time at the famous Albion Open and definately won't be my last. Thanks to Craig and the organizers for doing the hard work to make this event so enjoyable for everyone who attended. Everyone I have met were very nice and friendly. NCKA members ROCK!...Good People.
Fishing Report:
I had my video camera rolling when I caught that Salmon, but the Wide angle lens that I had on my playsport camera seemed to fog up for some reason. The audio is good though.
Thanks to whoever called out for the Salmon report at the beginning of part 1; it got my wheels turning to try for Salmon. I broke the footage down to two parts, so it wouldn't be one long view before the good stuff. There was about a 12 minute gap between the two segments (to get hooked up). I won't give a play by play. I think the video speaks for itself.

Congratulations to everyone whop got to experience the event. Maybe I can resume my attendence next year.... :kick

Craig another outstanding event. Lots of thanks to you and Linelle. Thank you Harry and Joe for some great food. Harry PM me so we can hook up for a dive. Thanks to my brother for going out with me, when I know he would of rather been diving with bloodbath. Thanks to Ocean Kayak for its generosity (it is the kayak I have been using for years), Big Hammer swim baits, which I used to catch my biggest 2 fish on, and all of the other great sponsors.
In total I landed 6 legal lings, 1 cab, and about 20 rockies.
-
What an incredible event. Well done Craig!
-
Forgot to mention that Chadrock brought some home made brew that was off the hook!
Some of the micro breweries should take note..
-
Without Linelles help I could never have done it. It all went perfect. Total stress the last week. The clothing came on Tuesday with half the order and the other half came Thursday night around 6PM. Just 13 hours before we were to leave Petaluma.
All the contestants, family members, people who really helped and didn't criticize, made this event again a true showing of what we are all about. Giving to our own and coming together in a spirit that is high and strong. Thank you all for without you its nothing.
Ill post more tonight as Im about to head back to work. I miss being there now. Aloha!
-

Too bad I had to miss the main event. But like FisHunter said, "I had fun" on Thursday night when I got the chance to stop and say hi to those that were there. Next year, those crabs better have their A game on, there will be lots of little kids striving to join the "I had fun" club again!
-
It was great weekend. Berta and I had a great time. I think Berta had the best time this time out of the trips we have done together with NCKA. Sat the fish just did not quite participate for me. I ended up with three species, but a Greenling just does not add too much weight. I knew after Adam hit the check in and what he had was heavier than mine, I did not even bother making it to the weigh in this year. Fri Sat was the worst weather I have fished in. Sun was much better. I ended up Sun with a PB Ling at 32" 11 lbs. Also had a double on lings Sunday. That was fun. Can't wait for next year.
Tote, you should have pointed out the whale. I had my hood up and had a hard time hearing noises around me. Surprised I did not hear the blow up. I'll add pics later.
Thanks for a good time Craig and Linelle
-
Had a great time! Here is one photo of the Wolf Eel I caught with the Big Jim pose :smt044
Seems my camera batteries died so all other fish were filleted before the wife took this one.
-
Haha Jim that's awesome! :smt044
Thanks and Congrats to Craig & Linelle for creating & executing another successful Albion event! It looks & sounds like an incredeible experience.
And Congrats to all the winners. Not surprised by the Top 3. There's some damn good fishermen here. And fisherwomen! Not surprised Trace won.
And Steve--nice salmon dude! Very cool.
-
Thank you to all the guys that helped me get back on the kayak after I went for a swim, I know that is was not easy to get back on it and all of you were tempted on using the gaff.
It was a learning experience. Thanks again for your help.
By the way I went out on the kayak on Sunday and I got my first blood on the kayak.

Congrats to the winners! Thanks Craig and Linelle, and to all of you who posted pics and your memories here.
With much regret I could not attend, but seeing the reports is the next best thing.
That Salmon is a freakin beast!

Great event, awesome prizes, super cool people. Thanks Craig!

Good eats, warm fire, fine tunes, Cohiba cigars and 60 yr old cognac... what!!! I think I like you guys. Mike
-
This was my first trip up North since the Elk days of Summer. I didn't plan on attending since it was my son Derek's 10th. Birthday. But i fixed all that with him by celebrating his birthday a few days early. Got his blessing to go and hang out with people like me :smt003 NCKA people!
I have to thank Craig and Linelle for making this trip happen for me they took the time to find me a place to park and crash out. I'm in your debt for almost forever :smt002. I had a great time! Next year I will try and reserve one of those trailers so i could bring the family up next year. I took lots of pictures and still can't remember all the names. Maybe we should start some type of year book with faces and name. Anyways, Thank You to all the NCKA members and family for all the goodness that filled my belly and clouded my vision (lots of alcohol consumption). :beer3
Thanks for all the Madness and memories...

+1 on the yearbook pictures with names.
-
Someone can make a sticky of Albion pics or any event pics for that matter and add names on each post.
Kinda good idea.
-
Another epic event - Thanks to Craig and Linelle and to all those who helped and participated in this event. Thanks to all the sponsors, artists and to those who donated to the prize list. A personal thanks to Ocean Kayaks for the surprise Ultra 4.3 :smt001 Thanks to all that fed me as I made my rounds :smt008 I was "trooching" and was very successful in tasting almost every dish in the entire campsite :smt002
*Phong / pelyaker, I apologize for not being able to hold a car camp site for you (as I promised). I'm glad the A-Hulls took you in :smt023 Had some issues that I care not to discuss :smt011 But I will make it up to you on the next hook-up.

Craig and Linelle... THANK YOU!
Two days on the water was the perfect therapy at just the right time. Everything else was gravy.
Mooch... It was great to spend just a little time with you again. I am touched at the love and generosity that this salty group of nuckleheads can display toward one of their own.
Everyone else... Old friends and new... It was great to see you too.
I took only mental pictures at the event ( can't post those), but my weekend ended perfectly with this beautiful 29 inch hen.
LIFE IS GOOD!

Best watched in full screen.
Albion Whale 8 7 12 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iExle4rirak#)
I'm already chomping at the bit for next years date.
This is going to be hard to top.
Berta just reminded me of something. When I got back a bunch of us were talking about sharks. I said I saw a long thick mark at 40' or so. Would a whale show up like that?

I don't see why not.

About mid morning of the tournament, I moved back south and ran across Scubaluis' saturday bath. About a half dozen NCKA brothers were already on top of it, so I hung back and hit the record button on my little Nikon. We always hear stories of the family looking out for each other, but, pics & vids prove it.
Left the Go-Pros back onshore, had to handhold the little camera and try to paddle and maneuver the yak at the same time, so please excuse the shaky video.

FANTASTIC video. Thank you for posting it.
-
Nice to see the bros all there for assistance!
-
I had a front row seat for the rescue. There were at least another half dozen members within 20 yards if additional assistance was necessary. Luis was in great hands and was being assisted within 30 seconds of rolling his yak.
Awesome job coming to the aid of another brother!!!
Proud to be NCKA!!
-
That was interesting to say the least. Ben was the man with the plan and Johnny on the spot. Way to keep your cool, bro, and glad we were all around to help.
Luckily we got everything squared away before we drifted into those nasty breakers.
-
For my second time being out there in the ocean and in those conditions I was really glad to see all the awesome support NCKA showed with Scubaluis rescue it makes me more and more proud and happy to be apart of this amazing group of folks. :smt006

Thanks for another great time Craig & Linelle! All of your hard work is much appreciated and won't be forgotten. That was super cool of Ocean Kayak to hook our brother Joel up with a spanking new kayak/ride like that so big thanks to Mike Mowry, hope I spelled that right, & Ocean Kayak for doing that. Also big congrats to Terry, Marcos, and Adam for besting the rest of the field and DryBones & 02B for their Game Day Pink! Also that's pretty cool that the first contest after Marcos gets sponsored by Jackson Kayak he goes out and not only lands on the podium but gets Big Fish too in his new ride! Thank you to John/Bird for getting the appreciation gifts for Craig & Linelle again this year and everybody else that helped out with everything for a kick azz weekend. See you guys & gals soon at the next get together! Maybe my hangover will be gone by then. :smt044 jim

Sorry for the late post. Im in agony from a molar extraction and graft but wanted to say i had fun... actually a Fantastic time. Thanks to craig and linelle, the A-hulls, tote and becky jedmo nation amadeo and fishfumbler and everyone who contributed to the event. It gets better and better every year.
-
Nice job on that vid, Capn. Being one of many who were too far away to do anything but monitor on the radio, I knew from what I was hearing that the situation was being handled very well by any who were close enough. It's reassuring to know that we have that level of dedication across the board.
First thing when I got on the water outside I thought we'd have more spills than we did. It's a pretty awesome reflection on our club that we didn't have more than 2 with so many people on that bad of water.
Steph - you did great to catch fish in those conditions on your second ocean trip, and I love your enthusiasm and genuine interest. :smt001
-
Craig and Linelle what a great outing thanks to the two of you. Randal and I got there Thurs when I hooked up with Abalonia aka Stepl at her camp site. Got to watch the rook bring her first Big Ling on the big Green.
Camped next to Bigfoot, Tom, Tommy, Joe and Joel. On the other side the AHoles....Boy was I lucky!
Jedmo Nation thanks for taking in the likes of me at your camp for some wonder Sinigang and everyone else that made this a special event.
Glen give a kiss to your wife for the wonderful breakfast this morning.

Threw this together real quick of the ocean goodies I found Friday and Saturday...battery died on GoPro before fuzz showed up and showed me some much nicer fish.

Craig and Linelle, Thank you. Thank you so much. You guys worked so hard to make this happen, we all appreciate it so much words can't describe.
Thank you to all the sponsors that donated stuff. Thank you Melissa and the Bear Republic for donating the beer. And the artists, thank you!
Thanks to MANBEARPIG(John) and my dad for making a gasket out of a Big Hammer swim bait to fix the tap handle. Not sure if most of you know but a tap handle sprung a leak and was leaking beer everywhere. Those two saved the day! :beer1
Ian and Penny, thank you for putting up with Midge and feeding us. :smut007
And thank you to everybody who contributed to the "Big Fish" pot. :smt003
We had so much fun. My parents are already making plans for next year.....my parent! And they aren't even fishing.
Conditions might not have been ideal but fishing with Ian(Rockwalker)Dave(NovatoDave) and Tim(T-Dub) kept it fun. We were celebrating everytime one of us would hookup or talk shit and make fun if one of us would lose a fish. Love you guys!
-
A few more.....
-
Thanks again Craig and Linelle, I see why this is one of the premier NCKA tournaments. My family and I had a great time despite the less than stellar ocean conditions. Good times, good people, good food!
-
Awesome Weekend! Thanks to Craig and his family for putting this one together. It was my first time fishing the salt water and I can't think of a better way to get broken in. Lots of helpful friends ready to give advice, and help ID fish. Was very happy with my first trip out, I caught 3 underlings, 1 keeper ling, a black, a nice Red, and a Gopher. Thanks everyone for the killer food and hospitality.
Memorable moments include.
Rolling in late Friday night and being blown away by the mass amount of kayakers.
Hanging out late with Al the the A-hull camp.
hooking up with my first ling.
Catching my first keeper right off the point in huge seas!
the potluck
seeing the 31lb salmon
surfing though some rocks with a fishing kayak fully loaded.
most of all hanging out with some of my best friends and family. :smt008
Here are some of the photos I took of the weekend. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.457701847583812.97728.157958320891501&type=1 (http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.457701847583812.97728.157958320891501&type=1)

Crabs!!! Last weekend in July! the ab guys can stay a few extra days and dive on Wednesday!!!
Thanks Craig, Linelle and all the sponsors for another great event! I had a great time (and so did my parents); they could not believe the sheer number of folks who came out for this event, they were amazed on the organization of such a large scale event. They were overwhelmed with the newly formed friendships from soon many that dropped by our campsite; my dad couldn't believe that I have only known most of you for a little over a year! Thank you my NCKA brothers and sisters for welcoming my family into yours! I love you all!
Lastly, they were floored by the amount and variety of food at the potluck!
They only wished the "sun" would have come out sooner than the day we were actually leaving.
Game day: As for me, being temporarily handicap'd, I stayed in the general area of the cove; picking of a few blues & gophers in between a hoard of Canaries..... no other species ventured close to my line that day.
Sunday: Peddled for Salmon for 3hrs for nothing but a busted "stitch" on my leg; came in tight to kelp a pick up a ling and a few rockies for dinner....
Jedmo "Nation" has now grown to a "Continent"!
Congrates to all the winners!
Again, great job Craig and Linelle; you both are awesome!!!
-
Big Thanks to Craig and Linelle for another fine NCKA event. The friends, the food, the fun, the fishing - fantastic.
Congrats to all the winners, but just being there made us all winners.

I guess I'll start to take some pictures. Thanks to Craig and Linelle for the great event. I have memories to last a lifetime.
There is so much to say, where to start.... Left the house at 3am Friday for a six hour drive. I guess you have to have been to one of these events to describe it but here goes. It is a fishy, foody, multi cultural, groovy-hippy good time.
Everyone was stoked to be there and there was such a good vibe in the air the entire time. Drank a little Friday night, got up too early Saturday.
I rented an Adventure for the event as my shoulder is tweaked. I launched about 7 Saturday and started to pedal out. The yak felt tippy and way more unstable than my 4.7. The swells were more than I felt comfortable with in that new yak. The rudder was also coming out of the water when I tried to turn left. I knew things were not going to go well for me so I pulled the pin 15 min out. I don't regret that decision. I have not been sea sick on a yak yet but I felt that was in the cards. I was thinking that being sea sick on a yak that I was not comfortable with might turn a great time into a really, really bad one. Went in took a shower and had a great breakfast with Craig and Linelle. There were a lot of sea sick people coming in.
I made about 50 Patron Margaritas for the potluck. I try to do as much as I can to support Mooch. He is so strong and is an inspiration. My 100$ in raffle tickets paid off. I killed it in the Raffle! I think it got a little old. Hojoman refused to take my picture after winning the fourth item I think. A new go pro, power pro braid, some gift certificates, lantern lights, a few other items filled my arms. The food at the potluck was great! We have some talented chefs among us. Hung out till dark at the main site and then off to the Jedmo nation. I cannot describe the feeling over there. There is an entire roasted pig on a table, two people making shish ka bobs and a boom box blasting 80's rock! It was just too much fun. Crashed at 10:30 and left at 9:00 for a 6 hour drive home. From the cold and the fog of Albion to the 114 of Lake San Antonio. These memories will keep me going.
A couple of culinary standouts! I'm not an adventuresome eater, not even a fan of fish really. BigJim fed me Uni and I loved it. Reelknots made his abalone dish and I loved it as well. Cnew gifted me an abalone that my dad and I will eat as sashimi on his next visit up.
I can't wait for the next one.
Don't miss the next one. Your life will not be complete without these memories.
Sincerely,
CaptainMorgan. (the Morgan. you met)
Eric

What an awesome weekend we all had at Albion. Thank you so much Craig and Linelle for all of your hard work. Congrats to a job well done to the both of you. Congrats Terry, Marcos, and Adam. Wished I had stayed on the water longer but the motion sickness got the best of me once again but that's nothing new. :smt011 I want to thank James(Abman) for gifting the Nation some abs and uni, Joe(bloodbath),NovatoDave,Harold(Fuzz)and Jim(BigJim), Darius,Rey(lapulapu), and Naoaki for the salmon and other rockfish, oh and Hojo for his special gift that the Nation totally enjoyed as well on Monday, Wes(chumchum), John(fiver). I hope I didn't miss anybody. My family was so impressed of how NCKA was so generous on sharing us their catch. Thanks to all that came to the camp. I only wished I didn't miss Tote and Becky's tiki bar. I'm sure it was off the hook. Much pictures to follow when I get a chance. I still have so much stuff to put away. See you all soon.

Craig and Linnell, thank you again. I broke my paddle on Friday coming back in after Abbin and Craig hooked me up with his spare so I could fish on Saturday.
Saturday, first drop I pin a legal yet small Ling and a black that I sent back.I tell my buddy its on! because I opened mouth I was rewarded with nothing but blacks and a few china rocks.
the first for me off the kayak was a monkey faced eel. when I told Bloodbath I let it go he was like WTF did you do that for and I got schooled in the way of the eel, next time Joe.
It was good to see some folks I haven't seen in a few, and meet a bunch more!
Thanks again to everyone!

My family and I had a lot of fun, although the ocean conditions weren't what I was looking for I only fished one day. But I had a blast in camp talking to new and old friends.
Olivia also really enjoyed meeting everyone and seeing all the new sights, sounds and smells.
-
Thank you so so so much, Craig & Linelle!!! The event went completely to the next level & we totally appreciate all your hard work (& I love my clothing :smt007)!!! Ash & I had a great time hanging out with everyone! :smt006
I got super sick on Saturday (haven’t got sea-sick like that in 7 yrs)... I got a huge lingcod next to my yak but missed it with the gaff & went back into the deep. Stuck it out until 11am but couldn’t stop chumming :puke:, so I had to pull the plug........ :smt009 but the potluck & party was just off the hook!!! After party at Jedmo nation was something else (a whole pig & super tasty BBQed pork on a stick that just kept coming). Non-stop great food & drinks (keg & Tote’s bar) all night! :beer3
Next day, I took medicine & went out for salmon first. Got on the water around 8am. Trolled to the whistle & picked up a nice black. Put new bait on & while releasing the line, I got a nibble. Reeled up quick & got a salmon in the net right away! When he went into the net, he went ballistic. Put him on the clip & radioed everyone! Finally, my very 1st kayak ocean salmon!!! People who know me, know that I’ve been chasing ocean salmon since 2006. It was a great feeling to finally catch one! :smt045 I donated the salmon to Jedmo nation and then fished rockfish all day. Saw a bunch of nice fish caught in front of me but I couldn’t catch one until the very last drop (~5pm). Nice, 33incher ended my day!!!
Oh yeah Moochie, thanks for letting us crash your site. I think one of the best part of weekend was we could hang out with you for a long time! :smt057 Also, thanks for the YT, Hojo!
Thanks for an awesome weekend, everyone!!! Absolutely Love Albion Open!!! :smt055

Good times Great tastes! Uni, abalone, pig, pork intestine, eyeball sockets, fish head soup, piaya, vhole dip...all in one day, really?!
Thank you to my NCKA community for yet another memorable event and party. Each time we get together I am amazed there are more and more wonderful, kind, respectful people to meet! Truly a unique crowd...
Jedmo Nation...you guys blow my mind! What a blast! A pig roast, tent city, casino, music central, fire pits, and a great family that NEVER stopped prepping more food! You guys do it right! Can't wait to see what's in store for next year. Could it get bigger?
Ok thanks to Craig and Linelle of course for taking the time to prep for this truly remarkable event! Enjoy your gifts certs n food :smt008
See you all soon!

Body worn out after 7 days on my feet on a fishing boat and 3 more at Albion. Sure did feel like the weekend passed quickly. Thanks for your super efforts, Linelle and Craig. I'm already stressing over whether my annual fishing trip will overlap the Albion party.

Thank you so so so much, Craig & Linelle & everyone else who was therer!!!
HoJoe, thanks for the Pics!
I had so much fun hanging out with the NCKA Family!!!
It was great to see old friends and meet new ones, As usual I made sure to hang close to Rodger for fish head soup on Saturday night and came home several pounds heavier than when I left after sampling all the amazing, really amazing food!!!
The ocean was something of a challenge for me, I ended up chumming several times and had to get off the water, twice! bleh! And sorry to Russ' lovely wife for leaving the delicious french toast and bacon out at sea after they so graciously fed me a second breakfast, lol. perhaps I should learn that if you chum the first breakfast, then go in, don't go back out right after eating the second breakfast....it will be chum too ;)
When I got home I even made a batch of fish head soup for the wife and it was awesome!!
I cant wait for Albion 2013 !!!

Thanks Linelle for everything you did to make this happen!
Craig you did good too. :smt002
Two days fishing in the Cove for a sad mix of Blues, Blacks, Canarys and under-Lings and then some real fishing, Sunday, when the weather allowed me to get outside of the Cove. Rock cods Greenling and Lings with a PB kayak Ling. A fat ass sucker around 12 #’s with a legal greenling in its stomach. Monday had great weather too, but I must truly be a family man now, cause I ignored the oceans’s siren’s call in favor of family time and WAF points.
Oh, the food. Especially the Abalone. Raw Ab & orgasmic Ab sauted in butter and garlic (thanks Fiver) and Ab with basil and tomato.
So many great people. Old friends and now new friends. Jedmo Nation, I though it was a ha ha joke about extended family. OMG, the Jedmo Nation needed its own zip code! Good people all. Did anybody get pictures of the giant buckets of mussels and snails they gathered?
Didn’t win anything in the raffle, although a great arcing throw by Craig allowed me to snag a Clavey’s cap. Unfortunately, the cap was confiscated by its present owner.
So much going on. Even noted a budding R rated bromance.
My family really felt welcomed and we are looking forward to next year.

This was my first Albion Open and I can't thank Craig and Linelle enough for their hard work and commitment in making this a successful event. I've participated in similar fishing events, but none of those exceeded the camaraderie, hospitality and heartfelt happiness that Rose and I experienced.
And WOW!!!...What a pot-luck! The turn out for this event was beyond my expectations. Thanks to all of those who came up to me to say hi and welcome me and my wife. We're already looking forward to next year's event. Props to Hojoman for all the great pics. Thanks Howard. Oh yeah...thanks for the YT. The hamachi kama was ono.
Congrats to Terry, Marcos, Adam and SCTrace.

This thing looked EPIC!!! I must find a way to get out there next year! If I put it on the calendar I should be able to get my wife out there as well with our kids. Looked like it was very kid-friendly. That's a big plus when trying to sell it to her. Thanks for the awesome pics and that Chinook was HUGE! Great job!

We are trying to make this a true family event so all can share in the fun. We have to start the fish printing earlier next year so all can have enough time to make some art! I will have a date by the end of the week for next year. Make your reservations early and don't be left out in 2013. Think crab!
A working art studio for all to create would be neat.

Looking for more pictures to add to the Albion event in the photo album. If anyone has more pictures to add, please PM me for my mailing address. I handed out copies of the July 4 edition at Albion. I'm sure I missed a lot of people.

Albion 2012 was a huge success! Thank you Craig and Linelle. I camped next to the awards area and watched Craig talk to about 10,000 people. The NCKA folks were looking out for each other!

This was the subject of Zilla's enchanted forest comment. Then there was the comment "don't tell my dad" like 12 times. Don't tell your dad what? That you are drunk and annoying?
Nice Joe. Great memories.

Craig and Linelle, thank you for all of the worry and time you put into making Albion possible for the rest of us. You are sooooooo appreciated!
Congratulations to the winners! You picked one swell day to prove your angling prowess. Nicely played.
After fishing lessons from the very patient Holy Toledo on tournament day, we had a sackful of fish (vermillion, black, blue, and one wee greenling that I wouldn't let HT use for bait) to bring home to cook for friends (a page from the Big Jim playbook), so we spent the rest of the weekend exploring. The floating cabins upriver seem untouched and way upstream we even tried the sea beans growing along the banks (they're crunchy and salty). We paddled around the cove on the flatter days to check out the places we might have overlooked and walked the trail up canyon past Schooner's Landing where is it always sunny and twenty degrees warmer. Such a beautiful place!
I'm still recovering from all the fun. My pants don't fit anymore, which may be because you are all incredible and generous cooks. Or it could be that my campmates shrank them :smt002. I wouldn't put much past the pranksters O2B, Fishunter, Bird, Polepole, Jonesz, and HT. I think I pulled something laughing. Honestly, thanks for everything, guys — the fishing tips, the fish cleaning, abalone, scopase, the site, snacks, not doing all of the mischievous things to our tent that I heard you planning when you thought we were asleep, and the great stories.
The reports of everyones else's adventures, the art we brought home, and all these pictures are great reminders of a slammin' weekend. Thanks, pals.
