Nice but why can't California just use Apple Wallet?  I now have a D/L app and a CDFW app.  Neither are compatible with Apple wallet.  It would be nice to be able to show your fishing license on the Apple Watch.

General Fishing Tips / Albion Update
« on: January 11, 2024, 04:30:51 PM »
In the interest of fairness, an update regarding the Albion Campground:  I booked a site today with Steven, the new and current manager of the Albion Campground.  Steven was polite and professional and very positive about what can be expected when staying there.  There are rules that some may find restrictive but none that seem unreasonable to me.  It's not going to be a place for late night parties or rowdy behavior but it appears that it will again be a great place to spend a few days at the coast.  The rules are posted on their web page.  I highly recommend that you read them before making a decision to stay there.  The manager who was there last year has moved on.  Rates and fees have changed but all are posted.  I'll be there the second week in August and hope to see some of my old NCKA friends there.  All I need now is some decent RF regs from DFW.  Hopefully the 50 fathoms restriction will be lifted.

Fishing Tournaments and Events / Re: ALBION OPEN 2023 IS CANCELED
« on: August 22, 2023, 12:43:18 PM »
Update:  I just received an email from Dennis at Albion.  They have agreed to issue me credit based upon the $20 cancelation fee that was in effect when my reservation was made in January.  I will cancel the credit card dispute as soon as I see the credit has been applied to my account.  It's too bad  they had to make something so simple, so difficult.

They are in fact charging $75.00 to cancel even though the Albion Campground site clearly states that the fee should be $20.00.  The fee was $20 when the site was booked and the new management refuses to honor the terms of the contract.  I'm pretty sure small claims court would find against them but there's a $30 filing fee and Mendocino County courts are a long way away for me.  They need to be realistically reviewed on Yelp and all campsite review sites.

The state should refund fishing license fees with this kind of restriction mid year!

The suit I sent in was a warranty replacement suit I received a few years ago.  I don’t use mine a lot these days but the last time I did, the neck gasket ripped when I took the suit off.  The suit they replaced a few years ago was at least 8 years old and they discovered it was delaminating when I sent it in for gasket replacement.  They sent me a new one at no charge.  It appears that they may not be as liberal with the warranty replacement these days.

General Fishing Tips / Kokatat - Sharing a very positive experience
« on: July 08, 2023, 11:55:03 AM »
I sent my drysuit to Kokatat in Arcata a couple of weeks ago for a neck gasket replacement.  It came back today with the new gasket installed.  It only took a couple of weeks and the suit is like new again.  I highly recommend sending Kokatat suits to the factory rather than an authorized repair facility.  Kokatat is a great company!

A bunch of the Loose Screws are booked for that week for a fish and chill.  Most are in the "A" section in RVs.  I don't plan on fishing the tournament but some may.  The Taco Shack sounds great.  I will gladly donate my catch to the "cause".

General Talk / Re: Kokatat in the wash
« on: June 14, 2023, 09:55:57 AM »
I always wash my Kokatat drysuit with Nicwax washing liquid in a front loader with cold water and no spin.  I turn it inside out and hang it on a hanger to dry outside.  When dry, I turn it back out and hang it for a few more hours ti make sure its completely dry.  I store it inside a closet on a hanger.

State Farm is no longer selling homeowners insurance to new customers as of about a month ago, regardless of location or hazard designation.

For Sale / Geezer Rock Vinyl
« on: February 13, 2023, 01:09:55 PM »
I recently found the following record albums while cleaning out a closet:

Somethin Fishy Going On by Ranking Ann
Derek & the Dominos -  In Concert
The Best of Wilson Picket
This Notes For You by Neil Young and the Bluenotes
Aqualung by Jethro Tull (Original Master Recording)
Layla and other assorted love songs by Derek and the Dominos (Double album)

I have no idea what these are worth.  Anybody want to make me an offer?  I don't even own a turntable.

I have used a bicycle innertube tied to a rope to pull my yak to the clam beads at Lawson's Landing.  It worked very well.

General Talk / Re: Nice German Shepard needs new home

Bushy,   We got our German Shepard from Golden State German Shepard Rescue a few years ago.  Maybe they could help find a home for this beautiful dog.
