Tons, read up on safety, other than that your prolly gonna need to be a little more specific. There is tons of info on here search function is cool.

go and take a basic "intro to paddling" class from a decent shop. It is usually only a one day or even a half day class, and will more than pay for itself down the line.

Fishing is the easiest part of kayak fishing.

Thanks for the tips guys. I just got finished at GS6 and had a blast. Everybody was awesome as well as the fishing.

Safety first!  Definitely get formal instruction and go paddling with other experienced paddlers.  Feel free to stop by one of our stores to pick our brains or take a class.  You'll be surprised how much you can learn from just chatting with us and other NCKA members.  I would also recommend reading some of the safety related posts where members share their experiences of what went wrong and what was learned from that experience.
