To kayak fish Point Pinos you will launch at Coral St beach.  This is not inside the protection of Monterey Bay.  You get full ocean action here.  You need an especially nice day to be able to fish this area.....rather than spending all your time trying to keep yourself in place.

There are many days that the party boats won't make this corner.

On the right day, it should be a good launch point to get to salmon in 300' of water.  Less than a 2 mile paddle.

At your service Mr moderator....... :worship

I hope Sunday is better than the forecast.  If nothing else, if you paddle west, opposite the coast guard breakwater, into 120' of water, you should be able to score all the sand dabs you care to haul up.

Blue and copper rockfish action can be surprisingly good in that open water as well.

Point Pinos could be more work than fun on a unfavorable day, but never the less it is a great area for some big fish!

I like the sound of loading-up on some sanddabs :smt106

If i get monday off I'll be out there sunday and monday!

For Monterey Sand Dabs launch at San Carlos Beaach.  Paddle straight out towards that tall red bell bouy.  Stay just north of it.  Sand Dabs are anywhere from 70 feet to 140 feet.  Maybe more but I've loaded up by then.

I use a sabiki with tiny squid bits and bring up 5-6 at a time.

Without looking it up, I'm 99% sure there is no limit on sand dabs.
