Thanks made sure to get mine in this year and bringing the boys next year for sure!
So looking forward to Crabfest 2018 I'M SO STOKED TO HAVE CAMPSITE 104.
I kid, I kid.
Thinking we should put NCKA flags/signs with screen name on our camp sites... Make it easy to find each other not camped in the jetty area... ??? good idea? I'll have mine up.

what time will it start? drive in the same day or at 5:00am? doable? Not sure what time the event is scheduled to start but the gates to Jetty don't open until sunrise.
A lot of people are using Promar 102W because of its weight and how easy it is to use. Make sure to check the regulation as there are some new changes in regards to modifying the traps. Search the threads, there’s a lot of how to’s on this topic. If you’re one of those people that likes to check their traps frequently, then bring some crab rings as well
As for the camping, the regular camp ground is not that far from the Jetty campground. You can always chance it as people tend to cancel and give up their site Days prior to the event, but that is a long shot as people grabs them fast.
Hi All~ :smt006
I'd like to join in on the crabfest fun. Sounds like a blast. I waited to "RSVP" because it's a bit out of my element, I've never crabbed from the yak but I'm totally ready and willing to try it! Any advice on what to buy for set up would be great. Also, should we book any spot in particular since the jetty is all booked? We don't have motor home or camper so we will be tenting it. :smt011
I've never been to Bodega Bay but have heard lots about it and I'm "Reel'E" excited to check it out! :smt044

There are first come, first served sites available at all the campgrounds. I like the walk in tent campground, it's quieter.
This is the most complete introduction to crabbing I have seen:
https://coastsidefishingclub.com/grey-beard-articles/crabbing-guide/
Also see the attached pdf written by someone on this board.
You will probably be in 15 - 30 feet of water at Doran so 40" shots of line will be plenty.
You could stop by Petaluma Sport Shop & Dive on the way, and they will get you set up.
Did I miss the Hoodie order sales thread or is that still coming ?
We should be a, "locals" by then,,, woo woo !!! :white :white
Unfortunately I going to have to cancel my reservation for Crabfest this year at Doran Park year. I had site 127 for 5 nights. Hopefully I can make next year. Have a good time. I will cancel my reservation on Monday :crybaby2: :crybaby2: :crybaby2: :crybaby2:
$15 for kids too, or just the NCKA members?
Towards the bottom of the original post. I also need to send in my regs and money for an extra large hoodie.Thank you- Found it!! :smt003
One more silly question. I just filled out my registration form and I see it asks for our NCKA name, no prob but wondering is this a NCKA member only event or open to public or?? :smt102 Wondering because I was telling my BF and Land Mate about the event.

Eric,
As long as the campgrounds people don't have a problem with it, I think your van will fit in my site. I'm next to Dave, so we should be able to fit you in somewhere. I just don't know about State Campground regs. I'll check in as two people at the gate. I know they're very particular about not letting people park on the grass surfaces. We can probably locate my trailer in a nearby campsite if need be.

It looks like there is was walk in tent site left from what I can see. The link to book is http://sonomacountycamping.org/Index.aspI only see one site which is a light blue colored site - is this the walk in site you are referring to? If so, it is for disabled only.
It is recommended that you book the Saturday night also so you do not have to check during the event.

Are you serious?
This is the first year we have done a pre-registration for this event. The last day to register for the competition part was 01/05/18. If you did not register you can still partake in the festivities, crabbing, raffle and potluck, just not the competition portion. This may be a good first time practice run with so many kayakers around. Not in it win anything.
Please send me a PM if you have any questions.

At the ISE this past weekend, Josh and Luis ran into this cool company called Teal Crab. They donated one of their tools called the Crack'n Crab Cleaner. Please give them a like on their social media and tell them thank you if you get the chance.Man that thing makes a lot of sense!
Hi everyone.
I'm a bit late on this as I just recently joined NCKA.
Is this event noob friendly?

Hi Victor, Narissa and NCKA Family,
I recently found out that I won't be able to attend this years CRABFEST. Have been having pains in my right arm for the last couple of months and this month it really started hurting when I would lift or use my right arm for anything. Was trying to see if it would go away or get better from my swimming and exercise routine.
Well, the pain started to get really bad about a week ago and so I decided that I needed to get some medical expertise to try to find out what was causing these sciatica/nerve pathway pains. I knew that I wasn't going to be able to pull up crab traps with this kind of pain. Saw a good Ortho/surgeon on Monday an he confirmed that it was a nerve pathway problem. Had an MRI on Tuesday and saw Dr. Michael Park on Wednesday. The MRI showed that I had a narrowing of the nerve pathway around my upper neck C4/C5 vertebrae. I am scheduled to have a upper vertebrae cortisone shot this coming Monday.
So, after much anticipation after not going tp Crabfest for the past 2 years, I will not be able to attend this year's.
I wanted to offer my campsite to anyone who needs one, it is already paid for.
If anyone wants the site here's are the details:
I reserved Campsite C-it is one of the larger campsites close to the Crabfest site from Friday 1/27 to 1/28.
Check-in time is 2pm on Friday and you have to leave the site by 12noon on Sat.
If anyone wants it, I can email you the Reservation Confirmation.
It's looking like the rains will be gone fr4om Friday for the next 5 days or so. Crabfest should be a Blast!!!!
Crabfest is one the great NCKA gatherings, I was totally impressed with what Victor an Narissa did to make it happen when I first attended 3 years ago.
Aloha,
Michael

Aloha,
Michael
