Madeira thread does contain silicone which can cause fisheyes and other issues. A minimum of three coats of Chromoseal cp solves the problem. Great quality thread and crazy color selection.  I don’t use it for guides wraps though, only decorative wraps and guide underwraps. The cp prevents the finish epoxy from soaking into the thread and really locking down the guides.

there's no failing here. Just go for it!

First rod my dad wrapped was a fenwick trout rod that was fished out of Lake Cachuma (who knows how long it was down there) and he rebuilt it with sewing thread and proceed to catch a 12lb pacific bonito on it when we were pier fishing one day round about 1980. Rod looked like junk, but he loved it and it worked so well. I'll see if I can get a pic of it, as I may still have it in my "sentimental gear" collection!

Yup....no fails.  I didnt expect things to be perfect with these, just wanted to get some wraps under my belt and start getting some experience with the practical elements of building; assembling handles/seats, guide placement, working with finish, etc.  My goal is to develop a good foundation before i start gettin real fancy lol.

This ones gettin some guide wraps started tonight.

you guys are fantastic craftsmen.
It took me a month to learn how to tie up a paracord bracelet.

Love the new rod Art, that'll be a beauty!

Damn Loco, those look better than the pics you showed me a couple of weeks ago.

You'll have to show me how you get it done.

I would have loved to see you wrap that!
Looks like a lot of work but also looks to be worth it.

That'd be like watching golf!

These are pretty simple wraps, they're not that time consuming once you get the hang of them.  Im gonna try to put a video together of my next build.  Not gonna lie, feels good whacking fish on something you built.

Wrapped up the pinche doyer rod for my buddy, gonna throw some turksheads on it and get it out of my house :)

9' Tady Jig Stick in the rack, getting wrapped in some classier threads lol.  Base wraps down, more metallics and black highlights on deck.
Gonna be a trebled swimbait gunslinger.
