Hey PS - Congrats on the new addition!

That shot of your little one passed out in the bow is pretty heartwarming too.

Congrats on the new addition Josh!  Another keeper for sure.

This is a good thread.  I brought Carson out on the kayak at Lake Ralphine a few weeks ago and we had a great time.

I just got my 2 yr old Owen his first fishing rod this weekend (I thought it was time he stopped abusing my nice fishing poles.)  Anyway, so far he's only done a bit of reeling practice and he really likes to sit in the tank well of my kayak.

My first fishing yak was a Malibu 2XL. We had a family fishing tournament at DV and the first team to catch a fish could name the yak. My daughter Erica and her friend Alex caught a #4 LMB and ended up naming the yak "Great Bass 2" which I used as my screen name.

Carson and I went fishing at the Foothills regional park yesterday in Windsor hoping for some bluegill action... we were pleasantly surprised by this nice LMB.

Carson did a good job reeling it in with just a little assistance from Dad.  Quite a fight on his little rod.

James, and one of his kayak caught fish. He's been reeling in them in for about a month. He'll be two in September. Don't let the background fool you, it's not really that dark, just the flash making it look that way.

No fishing report for this weekend after spending time with my wife and daughter at the Apple Hill Festival just up the hill from Placerville.  (Good for WAF) One of the larger apple orchards we visited called Boa Vista has a stocked trout pond.  I didn't pay the $6.50 rod fee or the $8.50/# and don't for get the $100 fine for throw back, but here is my little princess in action.   I hope she becomes a fish killer like dad.

I just got home from New Zealand where my son and his family live.  3 grand kids live there too with them. I haven't seen them in over two years.  They live on a lake, you ca literally throw a stone from their back yard and hit the water.  One of the things I did while there was build a small dock for the kids to fish from.  While working with them, I told them stories of kayak fishing.  My oldest grandson, 8, wanted to try a kayak out, so... I bought him one.  Here he is, Noah, first time ever in a kayak;

I also took them fishing in the harbor in a town called Tauranga.  Here is Noah and his younger brother, Corban, who is 6 years old.

Okay, admit it guys- We really love our kids, but we also love extra line(s) in the water. More kids = more fishing poles

The big one's been paddling solo for a couple years now. He doesn't have much power, but he maneuvers the Tarpon 160 with ease. His little brother is out on his first solo trip in these pictures. The first thing I told them was to have fun. The second thing - "Don't go to far". Sure enough, I had to go get them as they paddled too far...

My Princess,

She has fell in love with the sport. She is an amazing little girl who is as smart as a whip. Just when I think I'm teaching her something she teaches me something.

So impressed with the young lady she is becoming. Honor Roll, track team, cross country team, basket ball team, swim team, gymnast, triathlete, 5 & 10k runner, and now kayak angler. Not to mention drop dead gorgeous.

Not sure if you can tell but I'm a little proud.

Some of you have already met my oldest son Evan.  He started with me at five years old shortly after I married his mother.

My little one, Jacob, used to make it out with us on occasion when we lived in Florida.  He sat in the front hatch while Evan sat on the back.  I'm sure it looked funny but it got all of us on the water.  We only did it in small ponds where emergencies could be handled fairly easily if they came up.

That's Jonathon.

We really need to start doing NCKA events again. James can't remember it, but he had a great time at Elk the years that the whole family went.

This thread is great! I really hope we get a few of these lil' guys to enter the youth category at Clear Lake. We've got a couple great prizes.

Branson's catfish. Funny story, right after we took the picture James (rider) jumped out of the bushes, grabbed the fish and ran off yelling "AOTY catfish!!". Don't know what that was all about.  :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

My little toddler Max.  The reason I haven't fished this year.  The upside is that I've run over 400 miles pushing him in his stroller.  Probably break 500 for the year.  Really need to get a towable baby seat so I can bike around with him instead, give my knees/ankles a break!

Will

Loves the water, but we just had him tested again and it still shows he's allergic to most fish  :smt012 May have to glove him up and take him to the trout farm to show him why Daddy likes to go fishin'

Loves NCKA events with its surrogate grandmas like Bunny and Pam  and the other NCKA kids. He keeps asking about Branson and Teyo

Most of my pictures of my kids have them holding fish :smt001.  If you start them young they will keep fishing with you when they get older.  They just want bigger fish ;-).

1st fish
(http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii158/karmadogma/Livs1stfish_r1.jpg) (http://s263.photobucket.com/user/karmadogma/media/Livs1stfish_r1.jpg.html)

There has been lots of trout:
(http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii158/karmadogma/Twinstrout.jpg) (http://s263.photobucket.com/user/karmadogma/media/Twinstrout.jpg.html)

1st steelhead:
(http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii158/karmadogma/IMG_2148.jpg) (http://s263.photobucket.com/user/karmadogma/media/IMG_2148.jpg.html)

Biggest in a yak:

Biggest fish to date - they each got one, one was released:

I am a lucky man that I can still get the kids to come out and play.

My son is absolutely addicted to fishing. We spearfish Monterey and Carmel, and we have a tandem Yak and hit the ocean and the lakes. Here are a few pictures of recent. Salmon was today (15+ pounds) and the Ling was at 20ish two weeks ago on a boat out of Monterey.

He is 11... :-)

I took my 7 year old daughter, Angela at CCK Oakland yesterday. I wanted to demo the new Hobie 2015 models.  The staff at CCK are first class.  Very friendly and helpful.

I took her out on the Outfitter.  She had blast!  I was doing all the pedaling and I got tired.  She didn't want to go in.

I demo'd the new Outback and Revo 16 too.  Then my wife joined us for dinner.  Beautiful weather and place.  Very kid friendly and lots of good restaurants.  We will be back to Jack London Square for family outings.
