@fishemotion

I had no idea that little thing was so handy! I bought it when I first started fishing and never really used it after my first season.

General Talk / Re: Eating Halibut from San Francisco bay
« on: April 30, 2019, 11:15:30 AM »
They're migratory fish so they're less of a risk so I would eat them sparingly. But for kids, I would never feed them anything from the Bay.

Awesome catch! I was starting to think that there weren't any fish in Santa Cruz

Thanks for the report Alan! Didn’t know that they were doing a crab combo.

I've decided to keep the rod. Thank you to everyone for your insightful comments. I haven't sold it but I'll mark it as such just in case anyone uses the search function and finds this thread useful. I'll see you all out on the water!

Thank for both for the insight. I've been really tempted to keep it but I'd like to be able to use heavier weights should I feel like taking it on a charter boat. I'm not sure if it would be able to handle it as well. Thoughts? @Eddie I think we actually talked about your fondness for you ML before!

Hello fellow NCKAers,

I just purchased a brand new Shimano Trevala 6’6” M spinning rod. It’s still in the packaging with all tags and what not. I’ve decided to go with the MH version and sadly TackleDirect doesn’t cover the shipping on returns. So, I’ve decided to sell it for a loss instead of paying the astronomical shipping costs.

$110.

Update: No Longer Available.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Off-Season Leopard Shark Fishing??
« on: January 22, 2019, 03:18:33 PM »
Never seems to be too many sharks or rays caught during the winter. Don't let that stop you from trying, though!

Ah, I was worried that would be the case. The other option I've been mulling is taking them to HMB on a jetty but I have a feeling they'll just get snagged all day :/

General Fishing Tips / Re: Off-Season Leopard Shark Fishing??

The recreational fishery for leopard shark (Triakis semifasciata) is open year-round to shore-based anglers and divers. The fishery inside San Diego Bay, Mission Bay, Newport Bay and Alamitos Bay is open year-round to boat-based anglers.Outside of the above-mentioned embayments, the fishery is closed to boat-based anglers from January 1, 2019 through February 28, 2019. Leopard sharks may only be taken or possessed in waters less than 450 feet (75 fathoms) deep (except in the Cowcod Conservation Areas - see below). The daily bag and possession limit is 3 fish with a minimum size limit of 36 inches total length.

Sorry if I didn't specify. I'd be taking them bank fishing (don't have a bunch of spare kayaks haha).
