Sounds like the rule change seals the deal for the aMayesing Bros as the 1st place team for multi-species  :smt003.

But seriously, I like the change.  It'll force me to fish for those silvery critters!

Thank you for that feedback.

This is what I have in mind:

- competition limited to lingcod, salmon and halibut (both Pacific and California);
- competitors able to turn in up to 4 fish, but no more than 2 of one species;
- no C&R bonus, but points may be scored with a video release;
- most total inches = AOTD.

This is a Pro Division and will cost more to enter.  Cash prize for AOTD will be based on number of Pro Division entries.

The standard $25 entry will get you the usual schwag bag with t-shirt, tackle and HT Extension plus automatic entry into the raffle drawing for the Oldtown Predator XL, but you're not in the AOTD competition.  I'll still create a scoreboard with the usual species, but it will be to some extent auto-recorded by participants.  (maybe RCG side bet guys will man that scoreboard?...)

Pro Division entry at $35 will also receive the schwag and allow for $10 x # of Pro Division entries = Grand Prize Cash Purse.  Pro Division entries will also be in the raffle for the Predator XL.

Nothing will be set in stone prior to January 1.

Feedback welcome.   :smt001

I think that is a fair competition.
of course there will be some people that will start an argument about it.

Now the question.... if I send my entry for $25.00 can I enter the pro division later before the tournament by paying the $10.00 difference?

I'm open to that, Luis.  I'll definitely consider what I'll have to do to make it open to upgrading late in registration.  The bottom line will be closing it and announcing in writing, online what the total Pro Division entries are and exactly what the purse is, and that will be at least two weeks prior to the tourney.

PS:  I'm leaning toward including myself in the competition.    :smt004

Ok so my question is what is the purpose for the Score board for the  The standard $25 entry if it does not  affect anything? are you going to give out trophies or something in recognition?

Good move Eric. Big game only makes it easier to gear up for and less people fishing in the wash rocks looking for greenling. Lings need some culling as far as the reef balance so thinning out the lings will help restore balance to the reef ecosystem. Pro division, I am less sure about that. In other sports, ranking is somewhat scientific so that competition is somewhat in theory equal, not voluntary. Otherwise there are always sandbaggers. So let's say all AOTY winners and anybody who has won 2 or more derbys has to compete in a "pro division" as well as anyone who wants to volunteer.  :smt044 These people have a higher buy in since the numbers are smaller and it is a winner take all or cash distribution format. The non pro division competes for the kayak and other prizes. In some ways, this would give newbs more opportunity to win and that is probably a good thing. 75% of all of the competitions are being won by maybe 20-30 people at most. Even for the non-pro division, I would take greenling off the list.

I like the change.  We may not have a Pacific halibut season in May though.  Does the pro division include the tshirt?
