All Steams and tributaries in Sonoma and Marin Counties are closed to fishing including the main stem of the Russian River and Gualala River in Sonoma and Mendocino counties.

For North Central info call 707 944 5533.

Sorry Mike, but you did catch alot of Smallies while it was open. :smt003

Thanks for the reminder, David. Napa River between Trancas St. and Oakville Crossroad is now closed, too.

No problem brother! That Napa fishery sounds interesting. I am guessing it is small run and timing is everything with those types of waters.

One of my favorite Steelhead rivers has a small run of wild fish and the timing is important. Not a ton of fishing pressure like the Russian but a lot less fish.

Above Trancas, you can only go about a mile before you hit some mini-falls and some debris jams that you'd need the help of another kayaker to port through. I'm usually kayaking alone up there so I've never ventured above those obstacles. It's all small water, deepest spot is maybe eight feet deep but there are some bass, panfish, and the occasional striper up there. The steelhead run has become so small and  sporadic that I dont know if it'd even be worth the time honestly. Quiet, peaceful area though.
