The sheltons work well. Back in 2007ish, I contacted Bill and purchased 100 to distribute at a kayak fishing tourney I attempted to organize in Big Sur. He gave me a discount for buying bulk. Typically, if I’m planning to fish deep and I’m bringing 2 or 3 rods, I just rig it inline above a huge swimbait (on 8-10oz leadhead). That way, it’s already ready to use...and I can descend the floater AND then jig a huge swimbait for a few minutes. I’m talking about a 12” Kalins grub or some other gaudy swimbait that I normally wouldn’t use. This has actually resulted in a handful of 36+ lingcod. Which is a nice bonus It feels like instant karma haha!

I contacted Bill already and got a discount on my order of 50 SFD.  Have not decided how to distribute them.
I still need to improve my SFD technique.

Would love to pick up one of these decenders and a safety flag whenever you're able to send them out.

I've had floaters in less than 60 foot of water,  and I've never hooked a YE, in that case I'm sure I would need 4 or 5 lbs of weight for a big one, but for the little boys I want to send back down this would be perfecto.

Sure, the flat you see on my kayak is my testing sample.

Yeah, this sounds like a really good idea. Stealing it for sure.

I’ve used a Shelton for the last few years and they work well. I got tired of stabbing myself and currently have a different set up that I carry around. I found the design on the Oregon dfw site. I used a hand line reel, spare rudder line, and 26oz of lead I had laying around. I mostly fish 100feet or less so it’s overkill on weight, but it’s what I had
