What's the launch fee up there and when do they open the gate? It's probably the only place I haven't launched from up there.

Good luck guys,
Looking forward to a report.
I fish berryessa regularly for bass but I have never fished for trout.
What’s the legal size and bag limit for trout?

5 fish no size limit. salmon separate bag limit so you can keep an additional 5 kings/kokanee combined.

Nice fat Trout! Good for you bro!
-
I caught a couple of trout, had some come unbuttoned and finished the day catching my fill of dink bass and some bluegill. No trout bites after 10:00am, fished til 3:00.
-
Awesome day fishing with you John. I gave it up at 2 and honked my horn at you as I crossed the bridge. Those are some nice fish coming out of the lake this year. We'll hook up again my friend.

Thanks for the reports, guys!
My wife and I are planning to hit Berryessa this Sunday in our little 12 foot Gregor. Hoping to bring home some trout for the smoker.
Did you get them top lining Rapalas? Any success with other techniques?
Thanks in advance for any tips!

Mine was top lining a rainbow trout rapala. Nothing else seemed to work for me though I tried a lot of other stuff.

Thanks! J-7 size?

I use j-7 and j-9s. I like to tell myself bigger baits will equal bigger fish but I caught my fair share of 12-13 inches to go with the bigger 18+ inchers. Who knows. Sounds like you had a good day. How cold was it at your AM launch?
-
Firetiger needlefish was working well for a few weeks there. I’ve also done well running hootchie spinners and 2” white, red, or chartreuse grubs in the top 15 feet of the water
-
It was around 34 degrees at launch but warmed up quickly.
-
Orange grub behind a Wiggle Fin trolled on lead core.....one color down.....good for 3 trout 17-18 inches. Good luck for all who set forth......the trout bite for me was between 10-11 AM. Bass were here and there with the largest going 15 inches.....all fish were taken on the same orange grub!
-
Thanks for the trout report. I really need to get my trout fix soon.
-
Nice fish!

Thanks for the tips, guys! Looks like I should make a run by the tackle shop before I head out there...
I wonder if I could get them drifting a sliding bobber setup with a night crawler once I find where theyÂ’re at? Or maybe jigging a little Laser Minnow? Anyone try that lately?
My wife isnÂ’t very thrilled with trolling. She’d rather cast lures or soak bait. (I donÂ’t blame her... trolling can get a little monotonous sometimes...)

I tried both nightcrawlers and lazer minnows. When I fished out of Capell a couple of weeks ago I tried trolling crawlers behind flashers and still fishing and tried trolling and jigging the lazer minnow. They both produced crappie and bass but no trout.
When I fished at the north end of the lake on Wednesday the lazer minnow got me some bass and the crawlers got some bluegill but no trout. Who knows, they may get you some trout.

They don't specify a price for kayaks so I just paid the $15 day use fee when I went. Make that $10. The gate is open 24/7 so you can launch when you want. Just put your money in the iron ranger.
Good to see you guys are getting more trout. I was thinking about giving it another try.
-
I went back today. As I was getting ready to launch the ranger came by and gave me $5 back from my fee. She said because we don't have a trailer and we're not using the day use tables we only have to pay the $10 parking price.
