Title: HMB Crabs - non yak
Post by: & on November 25, 2005, 02:25:51 PM
Thanks to Alantani for hooking a brother up with a boat for T-Day crabbing.  Headed out with five others at the crack of 8AM and back in the slip at 11AM with full limits of BIG dungies for all.  I saw a few yaksters out crabbing out of pillar point.  Was that you chuck?  Saw a few people in OK prowler 15's.

There was a good little bump out there which made it tough to spot the string of 10 pots.  Overnight soak was the trick, 5 NM out from the harbor.  Glad to be out on the water.

Hey Yakuza... a good crab dinner beats turkey as far as I'm concerned!
Alan's the best.  He's hooked me up with fishing trip on Grady White in the past... and it's always a great learning experience.

Nope... I was grounded with a rather boring day with spent with in-laws.

Hey, Chuck. You have successful trips to HMB and Linda Mar. Is Crabbing in Santa Cruz as good as that in HMB? Why not many people do crabbing at Daveport for instance?

glad you were able to make it out.  i tried to convince my wife that sunday's crab were too old and that her mother (and the rest of her family) would appreciate FRESH crab caught thanksgiving morning.  the stuff i had was cooked fresh, then frozen whole.  it stunk!

Talk about a stink!  One of the bait boxes in the pots smelled like you wouldn't believe.  Probably as bad as my lactose-intolerant brother's shorts after drinking a gallon of milk. :puke:  You wouldn't think that putrefying bacteria would be able to colonize a bait trap at 150 feet or so...

Eric... I have no idea what crabbing is like around Davenport or Santa Cruz.  Any of you Santa Cruz locals wanna comment on this?
