The Sacramento Municipal Utility District's semiannual trout derby will take place from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 18-19 at Rancho Seco Recreational Area, 14440 Twin Cities Road.

The 160-acre lake will be stocked with almost 1,500 pounds of trout. The lake also has largemouth bass, redear sunfish, bluegill, black crappie and catfish. Winning anglers will be awarded prizes of up to $100 for adults and $50 for children younger than 16. The entry fee is $3. Parking is $5 per vehicle or $4 for seniors. Anglers 16 and older must have a valid California fishing license and can cast a line from the shore, fishing pier or their boat. Only electric trolling motors will be allowed. For details, call (916) 732-4913 or see the Web site at www.smud.org.
