Norm and I were paddling out of Caspar Bay a week or so ago and some live fish scum had the entire bay ringed with fish traps.  On the south side, they weren't more than 200 ft apart.

Targeting non-schooling inshore solitary benthic species like cabs, greenling, and Chinas.....grrr.  Why can't they go get honest jobs.

I saw a guy in Bodega Bay once at the gas station filling up.  While he was getting gas he was also checking on his tanks, which where obviously holding live rockfish bound for Chinatown.   My only consolation was knowing that most of his fish were actually gophers, which seem to be doing just fine based on how many I couldn't keep away from my jig, that and the fact that he could only handle a very limited number of fish per trip.  I really hope fish and game has a decent handle on the details of this fishery.

I started getting skunked at Fish Bay a few years back after those guys went through...  Even the Lost Coast is vulnerable to that harmful fishery.   :smt009

Exvessel rockfish price $5-$10/lbs (live) vs $0.30-$1.00 lbs (dead).   As long as there's demand this fishery will continue.  Go down and start protesting in china town, or sick PETA on them inhumanely jamming all those rockfish in those small glass tanks.
