Paige had been bugging me to take her trout fishing.  I knew the cold snap would have brought the fish to the surface at Blue Lakes so we gave it a try.  Paige made a reckless error early and fed some ducks...they NEVER stopped following us...

The water was cold and clear and it took about 5 minutes for Paige's top-lined crawler to get wacked...right in front of some skunked bankies  :smt003

The weather went from hot to raining and back again...so wacky it was kinda fun. We finished the day just cruising around a tossing Kastmasters.  Paige gave her new Pflueger President two thumbs up.  Fun kiddie day on the water.

We usually go there in the fall and spring.  It is a great, jet-ski free place for the kids to paddle and it is close to our house.  We launched at the "narrows"...inexpensive and no tweekers.  The last few times we launched at the south there were some sketchy folks.

I am blessed that Paige genuinely loves to fish and she wanted to add a fish to her AOTY score...what more could I ask for???  We had a great time.

WTG Paige. Nice trout. And WTG Dad. I can't wait to get my daughter out on the water. I can only hope that she likes fishing as much as Paige.

In the mean time I have a friend who has a 7 year old daughter that wants me to take her fishing. How can I say no? Haha...can't wait.

Just remember when fishing with kids to keep it on their schedule and make it fun.  Fun for kids might be more about feeding ducks than grudging out a limit in cold weather.  As they get older, they will turn into little fishing monsters and you'll be on the same page.

Me and my son used to fish the crap out of where ever we went.  He is currently distracted with being 15 (football and girls), but when he returns to the flock there won't be any room left on the podium for the Leepin family!  :smt003

Great fish schoolie, love the tail. maybe you can teach my boys how to do it right sometime, they kinda get it all things considered, but don't have as good a teacher as you do!

Lost my favorite fishin' partner a few years ago to just that. Except it was hockey instead of football, but big time on the girls... :smt002 Looking forward to the day he asks me to go sometime... enjoy it while it lasts.
