For our derby sponsors and for planning purposes, we need to get a better headcount on participants.  We're putting a June 4th deadline for online registration.  Late registration will be $40 instead of $30.

Last year we had only 12 people signed up the week before the derby and over 50 showed up on derby day.  We need to avoid that this time.  We want to make sure we have enough food and drinks.

Nice mention in today's Chron on the event (although they seem to be promoting late registration  :smt013)...NCKA starting to get some press!  Bummed I can't make it this year but I will be at a wedding in Bear Valley and hope to do some trout trolling while I'm up there.  Will report if there's anything to report.

To help Chuckie persuade people to register early, it might be very crowded at HMB. If the weather is calm and the fishing is good the boats on trailers will be backed up on the highway. It's been too windy for weeks, but since last friday, the boats that made it out found fish. There is much pent up energy for salmon fisherman.
Even if the salmon are hit and miss, if it's not windy, people know they can always get the rockfish.
Also, our friend Paul McHugh made a little typo in the Chron. HMB Kayak Co. is not "near" the harbor, it's IN the harbor--on the way to the boat launch!
