We all had a blast today sailing ARW.  Wind conditions was a steady 15 knots that made our AI's fly. Hook up crew was Pat R, ChuckE, Tailwalk and myself.  Martianfish and InsaneDuane stopped by to say hi to us.
Pat tried fishing early without much success but made up for excellent sailing conditions.

Mel, thanks for posting the hook-up.  That was a blast.  I guess time flies when your flying. :smt003
I was impressed with Pat's staying power.  Pat said he was there from 7am to 5pm when we finally called it quits.

Its hard to quit when your having so much fun I will post some pics when I get home. I may have a leak in my hull, there was about a galon of water inside the hull I drained out when I got home. wish me luck luck finding it.

To bad I can't make your hookup Mel!  15 knot steady winds is pure fun.  Well, there will always be a next time.  Did you guys take any videos of the action?

Pat - I had about 2 to 3 cups inside my hull.  All our bows where punching through waves most of the time.  Off course I was only out 2 hours.

My AI takes on 2-4 cups after 5-6 hours of fishing on the ocean, more if I am sailing. I think when the bow submerges, the forward hatch leaks. Also, every time you open the day hatch, a few Tbl of water get's in. I keep a bailing sponge in the day hatch and wipe up the water every 2 hours or so. I bet you don't have a hull leak.

Ditto that.  I sponged out exactly 4 cups (1 quart) of water and I consider that normal for the amount of submarine time that our AI's get in choppy conditions .  My Prowler 15 used to get that much water just punching through surf on launches and landings.

A sit-on-top kayak is like a big squeeze bottle with every hatch or rivet or rudder line hole as possible way for water to get into in the hull.  In rough conditions, your kayak is flexing more as water splashes over the hatches.

The new larger rudders are great. Very responsive making turns even at full sail.

However the Hobie factory seats makes my butt slide around as water gets in.  I thought the pegs on my seat came undone but when we got back they are still locked in place.  Pat R told me this would happen before our launch and he was right.  I will start using my GTS Elite seat next time.

I did have a great time out there a lot of fun did not think I was on the water for 9-10 hours. Tried to put some of Great Bass 2 sailing seminar to good use, Scott the compass was a great idea, thanks made staying on corse a lot easer. And I found that dead air you where talking about next time I will stay out of that area. As for the leaky hull I just did a water test (filled the bottom of the boat with water and let it sit for two hours) and you all where right no leaks,  if you check out the pics what do you accepted  :smt044 some water is going to get in.

Looks like fun, I guess I shoulda tried that instead of trying to fish, considering there was almost no wind at capitola.

I don't get much water in the hull usually, but i do seem to get some inside of my amas, not really sure how that happens.  not much, a cup or two here and there.

Mel, your sticker on your AI should now say "sailingaddict" rather than "fishingaddict". 15 knots was a true blast. I wonder how it would feel at 20 knots.

Pat, if it really is a gallon you may have a problem with your hatch gasket. Less than a quart on a full day on choppy waters sounds normal to me, as Chuck pointed out the sources. And, I always check if the hatch covers sit tight. You know what.... Windwalker sounds good to me. I tried different ways on getting from point a to point b and I guess yesterday I found a "way" that works for me.

Gotta do it again!

Cool action pics Pat.  Hopefully, Lino will post his GoPro vids.  I had mine, but the camera was pointed to high to capture anything useful.  User error.  :BangHead:
